trwnh yeah i'm not personally interested in looking at it from a legal perspective but moreso a matter of policy. taken to its end, you get stuff like ODRL for describing permissions/requirements/prohibitions. as an advisory policy you have a lot of leeway to say ahead-of-time what you are or are not okay with. legal enforcement is just one possible consequence of having your policy disrespected. social pressure is another. you could also not enforce
