There are people who like Tailwind but yes, it feels like recapitulation not simplification. Thanks for sharing that pfych++

pfych has 1 karma over the last year

Also, a large number of CSS battle users lost their “streaks” — gamified number indicating days in a row played — they said because of “daylight savings time” changes (I think they mean European and British Summer Time). A nice reminder that time-based algorithms have more weird edges than you thought of.

yeah the fact that most of US, Europe, UK, Australia don't apply daylight savings at the same time makes DST a bit worse than it would already be…

That reminds me I need to redo the prose script for next year

I having been going back to web development but I don't like js very much, I prefer websites that are lightweight and performant
#
mateusrc
(So, for example, I wouldn't use React)
#
mateusrc
I have been developing my own website: https://www.mateusrodcosta.dev/
#
mateusrc
I was thinking if someone from here could point out where I could maybe advertise by website building skills?
#
mateusrc
My website is relatively light, it uses Hugo and PicoCSS with several optimizations I could figure out

I feel like we may have even had a page on the wiki for this
#
[tantek]
a-ha yes!
#
[tantek]
what is consultant
#
Loqi
A consultant is someone you can hire to help complete specific projects; there are a few consultants in the IndieWeb community that have experience helping people setup and maintain their own sites, and are available to help you do the same; details inside https://indieweb.org/consultant
#

I wonder if aside from IndieWeb I could work with businesses to migrate from a Wix-based website to a static website (made with Hugo)

aaronpk: I've either a small bug or I'm reading something wrong. https://aaronparecki.com/primary.jf2 is using 'items' like you'd find in jsonfeed, as opposed to 'children' like https://www.w3.org/TR/jf2/ seems to imply should be used instead.
#
[tantek]
They have two different uses afaik
#
[tantek]
Helping businesses migrate from deadend "platforms" like Wix to more portable (and less js;dr) setups would be amazing!
#
gRegor
looks like a mistake in the jsonfeed => jf2 conversion https://www.w3.org/TR/jf2/#jsonfeed_to_jf2feed "Rename the "items" property to "children" and modify as described below"
#
epoch
so the w3.org link has wrong information on it? the 9.2.4 just above it uses children too.
#
gRegor
The w3 link says "items" should be renamed to "children" when converting from jsonfeed
#
gRegor
So I think aaron's .jf2 link should have "children"
#
epoch
ok. then I'll use "children" in my own code.
#
gRegor
Though https://jf2.spec.indieweb.org/ has a newer date. Haven't looked through it yet.

[preview] Kyle Mahan
#
epoch
it has the same relevant information afaict
#
[tantek]
hmm, odd preview. that should be fixed
#
[tantek]
Kyle's not even one of the editors
#
[tantek]
let's see if I have privileges to make editorial-only markup changes
#
gRegor
Yeah, he's in the acknowledgements but the h-card is in the middle of the parsed results, so odd it gets selected.
#
gRegor
It's the first h-card without a u-url, so maybe something about that?
#
[tantek]
yeah there's inconsistent markup that's what I'm looking at
#
[tantek]
ok looks like I have privileges to edit the README so let's see about the spec
#
[tantek]
gRegor, this is also one of the problems with using Respec (instead of Bikeshed) for the spec production. that ".html" requires running the Respec JS in order to fully "render" all the class names etc. 😕
#
gRegor
huh, not familiar with Respec
#
[tantek]
You're better off 😅
