What should a webmention receiver do when they are getting a non-updated webmention daily based on the sender's site rebuild?
#
perryflynn
let the sender know that's not how it should work.
#
perryflynn
but in general the webmention endpoint must be robust against resending. idempotency is the magic word.
#
aaronpk
get your webmention receiver processing streamlined enough that you don't notice the repeated webmentions
#
aaronpk
in particular, don't send yourself a notification for non-updated webmentions

20 years of microformats. Amazing. Now I’m going down the rabbit hole a little… Is there a blog post or something from June 2004? The wiki timeline page shows the eTech slides from Feb 2004. https://indieweb.org/timeline#2004
#
aaronpk
2005 you mean? :D
#
aaronpk
2024 was last year

Sorry, yes, 2005. Maybe that’s why I was getting confused. 🙂 Thanks!
