[Sophia_wood]Is three.js still the goto for a 3d website that’s interactive? Is there a different library/approach I should look at? I am building a tool for exploring polyhedra.
[Sophia_wood]Will do. Getting orbit control and being able to select vertices is tough if I use three.js with svelte there are issues (thresh). I have a backup for how to interact so that it is more accessible. Object files are just ascii so you can do a lot with vertices edges, and faces… I’m in the exploration phase. I mostly want to build an inquiry tool.
[social]It is a bit basic, but has a decent searchable library. I used it a while back for small 3D data models, but my son has been using it much more. I am asking him what he prefers these days.
[Sophia_wood][social] I love geogebra. There is also Desmos 3-D, but I’m trying to do something. That’s a little bit more on the rails to be able to go off the rails and a particular exploration.
[schmarty][Sophia_wood] this course on threejs includes _so_ many great tips for making nice-to-work-with pages with threejs: https://threejs-journey.com/
[schmarty]i trailed off somewhere in the long list of good-but-involved shader code lessons, but the early stuff is full of practical advice for setting up your dev tools, embedding dev UI bits for tweaking, and more.
