[snarfed]
to2ds do you have a URL for that reply?
#
gRegor
snarfed, I guess I was thinking of webmention triggered publishing, which I still do. It probably is easier with the Atom feed auto-publishing options
#
[snarfed]
ah ok. even for static sites, there's https://webmention.app/ , https://telegraph.p3k.io/superfeedr , etc
#
to2ds
[snarfed] - I have the reply to for fed brid gy.
#
gRegor
Neat, didn't know about that Superfeedr integration
#
[snarfed]
to2ds oh it was a reply *from* capjamesg *to* you
#
to2ds
It was me to him.
#
[snarfed]
wait no, that one's to himself
#
[snarfed]
ok. what's the URL to your reply?
#
to2ds
I think the note is hidden ATM. It would have been...
#
[snarfed]
to2ds this was a while ago? I don't have any record of that URL in the last 30d
#
[snarfed]
feel free to try again!
#
to2ds
I'd have to move it over manually. Right in the middle of merging my AP experiment, SSG, and few other things at this exact moment. :)
#
[tantek]
I need to file bugs on all those webmention services. last time I tested they all failed in weird ways on my posts
#
[snarfed]
^ so comforting. when http://tantek.com breaks things, that's how I know all is right with the world
#
[tantek]
like none of them actually handle the *simple* "please just send a webmention to EVERY hyperlink in this post, regardless of where it is in the markup, a or link element etc.".
#
[tantek]
so I resort to using mention.tech to send specific links
#
[tantek]
e.g. none of them find/send to the BridgyFed link in my posts possibly because it's either "empty" (has no link text) or outside the h-event
#
[tantek]
of course this is because I broke my own webmention sending code 🙃
#
[tantek]
I need to re-run some tests and file some issues on those projects with precise steps
#
to2ds
[snarfed] - Just sent it again but got the 401 again, same error message as before.
#
to2ds
Live prod debugging is fun :)
#
to2ds
Breaking one's own website to fix it again feels similar to Munchausen by proxy :D
#
[tantek]
what is test in prod
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "test in prod" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "test in prod is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
[tantek]
what is test in production
#
Loqi
test in production is (AKA testing in production) deploying code changes to a web site or service typically visible to the public as part of checking to see if the code changes function as expected, and is practiced by some IndieWeb creators especially with their own projects as a form of eating their own cooking, often before publishing code changes to an open source repository https://indieweb.org/test_in_production
#
[snarfed]
to2ds aha thx
#
to2ds
Test in production can tax one's adrenals.
#
[snarfed]
to2ds hmm I'm not seeing anything for that URL, or for your domain at all, in Bridgy Fed's logs. how did you send it?
#
to2ds
[snarfed] - On a side note, I enjoy reading the BF Python code.
#
[snarfed]
hah, thanks!
#
to2ds
Shall do!
#
to2ds
I sent it the Create activity via Python requests using HTTP Signatures to the james specific inbox.
#
to2ds
I suspect I broke something upstream when moving from my website bridged to my website as a standalone instance.
#
to2ds
However, after sending the message to BF there's a corresponding request back to my profile endpoint from BF and results in a 200 status.
#
[snarfed]
oh. you're serving your actor with the wrong Content-Type. it's application/json but it needs to be application/activity+json or application/ld+json; profile="https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams"
#
[snarfed]
same for all AP (AS2) objects
#
to2ds
Ooh! Let me go check that.
#
to2ds
That browser.pub tool is cool.
#
to2ds
Strange stuff. The profile JSON is static file and the NGINX config is defaulted to application/activity+json mime type. Going to deep dive now.

Thank you for the troubleshooting!
#
to2ds
Had to futz with NGINX mime.types temporarily but will put in a real fix later.

I got some great feedback from [Al_Abut] today about a project
#
[morganm]
I'm thinking http://guideline-journey.com, specifically what it needs besides fixing the back button, is an eyebrow style headline text that explains what it is most succinctly
