[Michael_Kupiet] [aaronpk] just to put a bow on it: turns out my 3rd party plugin that was supposed to prevent people from leaving comments via REST isn't working. I just managed to submit a spam comment from the command line myself. That's what was happening. So nothing to do with webmentions at all, just that I happened to enable comments internally at the same time, because the Indieweb webmentions plugin requires it. Fortunately there's ways to
