burgeonlab [Kupietz]: Great job for improving the site to be usable and friendly for JS disabled users. It'll be perfect timing for Naked JS Day!
#
Loqi No upcoming naked JS day events found. Want to organize one? https://events.indieweb.org/

[tantek] If anyone is participating with their personal sites please feel free to create an event on http://events.indieweb.org for it!
#
[Kupietz] @burgeonlab Well, the sitemap is ready for JS naked day... can't say much about the rest of the site... π I might try to get it so "embed mode" rewrites all the URLs so you can browse the entire site in it. Will probably happen, although I don't know if it'll be in the next week or tow.

burgeonlab [Kupietz]: Brilliant! Good job starting with the sitemap. It's quite a useful way to start exploring your site. ;)

mauro Hello everyone, I'm working on a personal site based from a template and have found it v. interesting, but I'm struggling to understand how Webmentions are supposed to work. Am I right to believe that they seem to depend on a separate server/service?
#
superkuh MrModem, to receive webmentions you have to be able to process HTTP POST requests sent to the webmention endpoint.
#
superkuh And then you have to GET the actual webmention URL they submit and download the HTML to check to make sure it links back to you.
#
superkuh The first bit of that *can* be done with just a webserver making a log file of POSTs for a URL/endpoint.
#
superkuh But the second does require *something* of a program actively GET'ing and parsing.
#
superkuh Many people chose to use a third party service to receive webmentions because that's simpler if you're used to just working web frontend/javascript stuff.
#
MrModem Cool, that's the biggest thing I wanted clarified. Thank you. Is data migratable from the most popular 3rd party service? I'm not against relying on one of those if they're fairly friendly to users choosing to roll their own solutions later.

btrem I posted a feature request for read-only contact lists in Thunderbird. But apparently one has to be logged in to see it. Can anyone confirm? https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/read-only-address-books/idc-p/122118

Loqi [preview] [mta] i wrote an internet standard https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-meow-mrrp-00.html (it's published on ietf.org so you know it's real and official and endorsed by the ietf)
#
[schmarty] Meow mew mrrp miao !
#
[snarfed] seems misguided. anyone can write and file an IETF draft, it's been like that forever. showing up on http://ietf.org doesn't mean any kind of approval or other endoresement
#
aaronpk only recently have the datatracker pages had this banner https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-meow-mrrp/

#
[Kupietz] Um, that Meow protocol is going to cause serious serious conflicts if someone tries to interface it with RFC 1149 Transmission of IP Datagrams on Avian Carriers.

[Kupietz] Ok, getting far afield here, but I'll just say, that Meow proposal is still a draft, and already... https://nypost.com/2026/04/16/us-news/pilots-under-investigation-for-meowing-barking-on-air-traffic-control-frequency-be-professional/
#
Loqi ok, I added "https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-meow-mrrp/" to the "See Also" section of /cat https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=110170&oldid=100389
#
[artlung] what Wikipedia disambiguation page is longest or has the most subsections, or both, and is it βCat?β https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_(disambiguation)
#
[Kupietz] If I'm not mistaken, the part about "meow meow meow" means they've moved every zig.
