Does anyone know if you can use https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/deed.en for the source code of a document but have a separate license for images?
#
[capjamesg]
I want to license a project under CC0 but I still want my mascot, which is used in the project, to be all rights reserved.

I believe so yes
#
[tantek]
Rel=license only applies to the direct document content. Not embedded resources

Question: There doesn't seem to be a link relation for an "abuse"/"moderation"/"admin"/etc point-of-contact. Is there prior art in the Indieweb space re: what to do when encountering content that should be reported for some kind of action? (takedown, etc)
#
trwnh
The wiki page on /moderation seems to only explore holding comments for human review, which can be a good preventative measure, but doesn't seem to cover arbitrary communication of concerns

I know that culturally there is a greater emphasis on "own your site" and this can lead to a single-tenancy assumption but user-generated content is still a model that exists and hosts should be able to advertise a point-of-contact, kind of like the HTTP equivalent of DNS WHOIS
#
trwnh
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything relevant here -- thanks!

This is definitely something that is worth us expanding on the wiki. I don’t have an immediate answer to your question but maybe someone else here has some information that could help.
#
[capjamesg]
https://community.hachyderm.io/docs/mastodon/moderation/report-feature/ might be helpful if you are trying to design a report flow.
#
[capjamesg]
That shows both the report flow for users and the view admins see to resolve a moderation flag.
#
trwnh
Specifically it's about where to send the report, I guess
#
trwnh
Even in Mastodon-like workflows, users file a report against a post or profile, but then the Flag activity that Mastodon sends out will just go to a regular inbox (or a shared inbox if one is found)

I was wondering which static site generators people were using. It seems a bit impractical for me to have to repeat things like headers and footers. I have used Jekyll before but I wanted to see what is popular in this community
#
trwnh
It can be a problem if reports intended for moderators end up in user inboxes, so what I'm writing about rn is "how to discover who the moderators are" so that moderation-related activities can be sent to moderators instead of directly to users (where the moderators might never see it)
#
trwnh
But then I found 0 defined IANA link relations related to anything close to that, so I'm asking here :p
#
trwnh
(But WHOIS contains abuse contact info, so there is *some* precedent!)
#
[capjamesg]
11ty and Hugo are popular ones in the community too.
#
[capjamesg]
We also have a few community members who hand-write all their HTML.
#
TwinAdam
rod I've used Jekyll and 11ty. There's lots of good templates and IndieWeb plugins for most major SSGs

^ i was going to say hugo, personally, yeah -- lifesaver for multidimensional sites (language, version, etc)
#
[capjamesg]
Oooh I have never heard the term “multidimensional site” before.
#
[capjamesg]
That is a really good term.
#
trwnh
it's new in hugo 0.156 https://gohugo.io/functions/hugo/sites/ they recently cleaned up their concept model a lot and that's the new term for all the different "variants" of content
#

oof, rel="contact" was already used by XFN apparently for... not who to contact administratively, but to indicate that you consider that person to be a contact https://microformats.org/wiki/existing-rel-values

That last link you have is probably the best list of rel values I know of

I have a blog (http://lbrito.ca/blog) compiled with nanoc. I'm reading about https://news.indieweb.org/how-to-submit-a-post and thinking how I could implement it in my workflow. Nanoc compiles _all_ the pages every build, so the most trivial approach for me would be to just do new POSTs each time I deploy, one for each blog post. But I don't want to spam your servers or generate duplicated entries.
#
[Leo]
Do you have some kind of filtering to avoid duplicates? Is this a reasonable approach? Otherwise I'd have to either keep track of what blogposts I sent a webmentions for, or do something clever to figure that out without persisting, and neither options seem attractive.

There's a manual submit form if you don't want to send webmentions, seems like a decent option: https://news.indieweb.org/en/submit
#
gRegor
afaik, IndieNews does de-duplicate so multiples wouldn't show up, but it would be nice to not send a lot of repeat webmentions, unless there's actual updates to the post :)

I'm not on a static site though, others here are and might have ideas from their experience

Thanks! I figured as much. Wondering if people mostly automate or just manually submit.

i find it so funny that with most ssg you don't really interact with the language it's in
#
rod
i thought to maybe use a python one or use hugo but i didn't have to write much (or any) Ruby for Jekyll

rod: I did start with zola, but moved to rolling my own thing that does what I want. Not recommended if you want to actually work on the site tho

Haha we have a whole section on that

What is a CMS
#
Loqi
A content management system (often abbreviated as CMS) is software used to create, enter, edit, update, delete content on websites; some CMSs are used for IndieWeb sites, see the tables on this page for current usage https://indieweb.org/CMS
#
ZodiacalComet
Yeah, stumbled upon that one while looking up CMS. Liked the idea of making the content data that can be exported easily to other formats.

And the graph in there is gold
