Thanks again, gRegor-- yeah I would say I remember next to nothing about HTML and CSS other than modding code I had copy/pasted from other sites. So I remember some content tags? But I'm looking to brush up for sure
#
waples
And yes I'm going to definitely be diving into the indieweb.org resources, but I'm curious about any recommendations ppl might have beyond that too :)

[Jo] The same creator made "Flexbox Froggy" which I remember dearly from my early web dev learning days

Oooh that is clever!

I have wished for a tool like this for a while for documentation, where screenshots easily drift with UI changes and product updates.
#
[morgan]
Nice, was just talking with Ben a little on one of my other slack workspaces about this

Screenshot taking, and screenshot management, is actually not a fully solved problem area even for businesses with a lot of resources. Playwright and Ben doing it on a small org scale is encouraging to me

I've made browser plug-ins for dev mode to get screenshots before. if your on apple you can also use a script in safari. I am rethinking flows on linux

They came for the content... hit em with the `<samp>`

A significant chunk of my old job role was taking screenshots with a proprietary tool / label built on top of puppeteer. The screenshots had to be very precise, and also capture a lot of interactive state, such as menus being open, or tabs being clicked and visible, and so on. This chunk of my former job was attempted to be automated the entire time I was doing it, and I optimized the system a great deal manually despite that

atmosphere. Everyone said if we had started anew it would have been built on Playwright
#
[morgan]
Basically Screenshots are cool, and theres a lot of creativity and usage and tooling one can individually build
#
[morgan]
also sometimes gets paid work
#
[morgan]
I have a personal belief this problem is not as solved as it might have been in the last few years because everyone is used to taking screenshots on their phones and stuff and the very word screenshot implies something immediate and disposable

GWG, have you encountered Open-Meteo in your weather-based features on your personal site? Looks like a good option to explore as another backend API to call for weather info for a personal site: https://open-meteo.com/
#
GWG
Yes, I support it as a backend

On another topic (related to grayscale discussions), does anyone support custom styling for mediaquery of "monochrome" to accommodate folks who choose grayscale setups? https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Reference/At-rules/@media/monochrome

when is fresh?

#
[tantek]
capjamesg, do you do special styling on your website for monochrome media feature?
#
[capjamesg]
I don’t do anything special. I did spend time ensuring the contrast was good though when I picked my colour set.
#
[capjamesg]
Interesting that https://www.w3.org/WAI/test-evaluate/easy-checks/color-contrast/ notes “Determine contrast issues by viewing the page in grayscale.” as a quick check.
#
[capjamesg]
The “Check grayscale on this page” on that page would make a good bookmarklet.
#
[Kupietz]
Interesting. That test correctly renders both blue and red as near-black.

I guess modern accessibility tools are way ahead of my circa-1998 understanding of RGB color.
