[Den] When I log into http://webmention.io, under sites, I see both my site and An IndieWeb Webring (http://xn--sr8hvo.ws) listed under Sites. I don’t know what that’s doing there (maybe I did something wrong some time in the past?) but am wondering if there’s a way to remove it. Is that possible [aaronpk]?

[Den] I first set it up years ago, so that explains it.
#
[Den] It doesn't really seem to affect anything, but I thought I’d check.

[Den] Thanks!

[capjamesg] Are there any best practices for a feed reader to identify when a domain has become a zombie site?
#
[capjamesg] I was following a website that is now all spam. My reader was thus flooded with ~7 spam posts this morning.

#
[KevinMarks] Historically one way to identify spam was the kind of sites that they link to, but and that all the posts link to whatever money making thing they were spamming for.
#
[capjamesg] I have something of a fix deployed now.

[capjamesg] When a user’s feed is computed, there is a search done to see if an author has published 3x or more the maximum posts they have published on a single day previously. If this happens, the posts for that day are hidden and collapsed into a separate page.
#
[capjamesg] The 3x is arbitrary but designed to eliminate false positives.
#
[capjamesg] In this case, the author would publish usually no more than one post every week or two but today published ~11 posts.
#
[capjamesg] One potential flaw is if someone intentionally adds a lot of posts to their feed, but presumably the user wouldn’t mind seeing a collapsed view of those posts for a few days.
#
[capjamesg] Here’s the visual before and after:

#
[capjamesg] (although I’m changing “expected” to “usual”)
#
[capjamesg] I believe so, yeah.
#
[capjamesg] My logic above is sort of a heuristic for both general feed floods (i.e. author accidentally reset all their dates) as well as for general spam. But I suspect there are several factors that could be used explicitly for zombie site classification.

thestudyofstarlight Since this says "Post an Introduction": Just started getting my feet wet by making my personal site fully IndieWeb/MicroPub compliant with the assistance of Google Gemini (yeah, yeah, I know, "AI is bad/evil/willtakeovertheworld/&c." but I only know just enough PHP to be dangerous and risk taking down the entire server with a line of bad code, and Gemini has been doing a splendid job of responding to my need
#
[capjamesg] Maybe more potential indicators of a zombie site are: hasn’t posted in a while, posted way more than often, language change in posts, site generator has changed, i.e. from nothing to WordPress (not a factor alone, but with others may signal a zombie site).

[jeremycherfas] Welcome thestudyofstarlight. I’m in the same boat, able to destroy worlds with a misplaced line of PHP. What is your website?

thestudyofstarlight The "Life Stack" explains at the top how it was initially built until I finally had Gemini create a site history page with new changes as they're made.

[jeremycherfas] I love the simplicity.
#
thestudyofstarlight I'd REALLY love to put this behind Cloudflare for some edge protection but then certain remote posting methods stop working due to redirects.
#
[morgan] You share a lot on your site and seem like a empathetic reasonable person. Good luck with the integrations and website'ing 😄
#
superkuh Cloudflare: for when you want to block anyone in a demographic that cloudflare doesn't think is profitable.

[social] [KevinMarks]++ Thank you for the post on PRs. Boy, did that hit some triggers for me. I’m not against PRs, but reviews help and I’ve long leaned into lower tech debt is what increases good velocity. I’m also a fan of test driven design (TDD). I after the first third I skimmed and parked this for a deeper read later. It also hit on some things I’ve been running into doing engineering and product head mentoring around AI in the flow a

thestudyofstarlight I gave up on trying to get my site to render trip maps and just insert the summary information from Overland instead. For some reason trying to backfill resulted in all the trip path points being the same coordinates. 🤷♂️
