One thing I want to do with my site search engine is have a with: shortcut that lets me see blog posts I have written with someone.
#
[capjamesg]
I haven’t seen this feature in a search engine before so thought I’d document the idea here.

[capjamesg]: how do you handle multi author?

I added a `with` attribute to my posts to indicate if I wrote a piece with someone.
#
[capjamesg]
I mention who I wrote it with in the introduction to the piece, too.

[capjamesg]: that's really neat! do you have an example of how you're rendering it on the page? i wanted to add an authors' field to my site but i didn't yet because i wasn't sure how it should be displayed

I don’t do any custom rendering. I just say it in the text: https://jamesg.blog/2026/07/13/repeat-that-repeat
#
[capjamesg]
This is because what it means to write something with someone else varies between each of the collaborative pieces I have done.
#
WinnerWind
i see, yeah, if there isnt a standardized way then i dont really see how you can make a standard field for it. cool nonetheless!
#
[capjamesg]
Thank you! I did think about having a /with/<author> page to list posts I have written with different authors, but I haven’t done that yet.

I wish CMS software let you have the concept of an author without necessarily requiring them to have a profile on your site.
#
[capjamesg]
Ghost lets you set multiple authors but that requires having profiles for each author.

noticing the topic filters on blogroll-org (linked recently in #indieweb) require JS to function, and I couldn't help but wonder if they could be done with pure HTML+CSS? e.g. make all the topic filters HTML checkboxes (which can be restyled to look like the buttons they are currently), and then using :checked pseudo-classes to show/hide various individual entries by class name
#
[tantek]
(they seem to currently require JS to work)

[capjamesg]: Could you use a taxonomy? thats how I would handle it. Just create a new taxonomy called "with" or whatever then create each "author" as a new "term" in essence. then you would be able to connect as many people as you wanted to a post, and query by posts where "x" person is linked etc.

I sort of have that in how it is implemented, but not how it is presented.

jkingweb: moving here from #microformats, was there a reason you wrote your own Uri wrapper?
#
Zegnat
I just added support to my link parser for the new \Dom\HTMLDocument from PHP 8.4 and was also looking at implementing the native Uri stuff.

Currently using Uri and UriResolver from Guzzle
