[artlung] Mysqldump on a cron is how I do it. Then mirror those to a second location periodically. Keeping the credentials in a manner that's safe is key. And of course not storing sensitive stuff in the raw databases where possible.

gRegor ^ same. I use https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/mysql-config-editor.html to encrypt the credentials in a .cnf file for the cron.
