[0x3b0b] That helps a little with the context of how the term became popularized. I suppose what it amounts to is that I had a narrower idea in my head of what constitutes a "throwback" which did not generalize (as it seems to me like the wiki does) to "here's something I wrote or a picture I took a while ago." I'm having difficulty defining _to myself_ what that narrower idea is.
#
[0x3b0b] The best I've got so far is that it required either explicitly _contrasting_ something characteristic of its time with how things are now, or _comparing_ something that happened recently and that one might expect to be rare - or that some folks might think was new - with something similar that happened in the past.
#
[0x3b0b] So, for example, a gallery of photos from a while ago or a travelogue that wasn't posted when the travel was still recent would not previously have brought the term "throwback" to mind for me without some explicit comparison, even a brief one, to the present. I'll have to see whether this context changes how I think of the word or not.

[capjamesg] [social] Re: the permalink discussion at HWC. Is there a history to IDs being used in permalinks?
#
[capjamesg] My university uses URLs with IDs liberally, and I wonder if it is a preference (keeps citations shorter) or a technical limitation with the LMS they use.
#
[social] [capjamesg] I’m not fully following
#
[social] Ah, I think I’m tracking now. IDs in permalinks are relatively common as a formal term may change and the link to category where the term has changed (which can be relatively common allows the link to still work). The other side of it is with multi-term categories and how to display those in permalinks often turns into long discussions, which often just turn into, “let’s just use the ID”.

[social] Dealing with a lot of Java development environments JWTs have been heavily used for 8 to 10 years or so. The Go developers seemed to have leaned into JWTs in the last 5 years or so.

[capjamesg] [social] ++ thank you for the description.

extralongdivision Also my site is static and I'd like to keep it like that, at least for the time being. PESOS seems like my best option. Curious if others have devised a solution.
#
extralongdivision Are there examples of people POSSEing long form video content? The only way I can think of truly owning your videos is hosting a PeerTube instance.
#
extralongdivision [tantek]: CC is fine, and IA would be much easier than PeerTube. While its terrifying to think about, IA could suffer a site death. Starting there is worth considering
