aaronpk, I opened a PR to make it easier to test micropub clients against indieauth.rocks if you're open to it. https://github.com/aaronpk/indieauth.rocks/pull/5

rnkn: what prompted your change from openbsd to netbsd?
#
rnkn
IWDiscord: I had some trouble with relayd (the openbsd reverse proxy) that caused a bunch of downtime, and also netbsd just feels nicer
#
rnkn
specifically relayd doesn't support ECDSA certs and silently dies if given one

I got an email from LiveJournal with subject: "You got a new achievement" with contents including "We're together for 21 years now! Thank you!" and links to "Share the achievement" and "View all achievements". Anyone got one of these emails and dug into the code behind these two links to see what they're up to?

I have not gotten any email from that site until I finally managed to login the other day. Like I have no spam or anything from them for like 15 years.
#
[artlung]
That is wild.
#
aaronpk

JoshuaM
Hi all. I’m looking for some independent technical review of a small Web protocol I’ve been working on as part of the Joshternet.
#
JoshuaM
#
JoshuaM
RFC-JOSH-0002 defines `/.well-known/josh`, a JSON declaration that lets an origin voluntarily declare participation in the Joshternet and optionally declare Josh identity.
#
JoshuaM
#
JoshuaM
Version 1 is frozen for review. We have a language-neutral 27-case conformance suite, a consumer implementation that runs against that corpus, and several live publishers including independently operated sites.
#
[tantek]
what is your personal site JoshuaM?
#
[snarfed]
the joshternet? josh identity?
#
JoshuaM
yep, checkout https://joshternet.org
#
[snarfed]
...struggling to figure out whether I should be amused at this or take it seriously
#
[snarfed]
or both I guess
#
JoshuaM
it's both serious and amusing
#
[snarfed]
it's a fun joke! but asking for technical review seems like a bit much
#
JoshuaM
it's a serious implementation with a working model an independent implmentors
#
[snarfed]
ok! and welcome to the indieweb! (apologies if you're not new, I may just not have seen you before)
#
JoshuaM
thank you for the welcome and I appreciate the feedback on the intentionally funny premise overshadowing the technical aspects of it. I will think on that
#
[tantek]
JoshuaM++ welcome and nice personal site!

Loqi
JoshuaM has 1 karma over the last year

For anyone curious enough to look at the technical side, the review packet is here: https://github.com/joshternet/spec/tree/main/review/rfc-josh-0002 The narrow question I’m trying to answer is whether someone could implement /.well-known/josh correctly using RFC-JOSH-0002 alone.
#
JoshuaM
I’m especially interested in ambiguity around origin scope, ports, redirects, JSON/version validation, removal behavior, Content-Type handling, and Web security. If two reasonable implementers could read the spec and come away with different behavior, that’s exactly what I want to find.

i don't understand usefulness of this spec

oh man, I just found an excellent use for Claude... I am giving it a copy of my old php website and asking it to archive it as static HTML. it's already found way more edge cases than I would have by hand.
