[tantek] What is IWC Berlin
#
Loqi ❤️ IndieWebCamp Berlin 2024, the ninth IndieWebCamp in Berlin, was 2024-11-09…10 the weekend after btconf Berlin 2024 https://indieweb.org/IWC_Berlin
#
[tantek] Any Berlin folks here have preferences about start time or feedback on previous years?
#
[tantek] Thinking of doors open at 9am for IWC Berlin. Sunrise there then is ~7am so that should give people plenty of time to transit to the venue in daylight
#
[schmarty] works for me!
#
[tantek] [Joschi_Kuphal] sknebel [Jo] WDYT of 9am doors open for IWC Berlin?
#
[tantek] Oooh looks like I'll be able to do the transatlantic DST hack!
#
[tantek] Germany switches off DST on Oct 26, and the US switches off DST on Nov 2
#
[tantek] The hack is to travel transatlantic to skip the DST changes in each place and thus have them "absorbed" into the timezone changes instead. Jet lag erasure of experiencing the DST change.
#
[schmarty] tantek: a friend of mine used to talk about erasing jet lag itself by treating their body even worse, so they can't tell what is jetlag versus hangover/too-much-caffeine/sleep-deprivation. he called it the "confuse to diffuse" method. i am not sure how much it was theory vs practice for him. 😂
#
[tantek] [schmarty] I know of one person that practices a formal method of gradually shifting eating times over the course of a week or so before / after travel to mitigate jet lag
#
[tantek] I can tell you from experience that the transatlantic DST skipping hack absolutely works and is like magic when you get home and there's no DST change to adjust to

#
[Jo] That sounds like a nifty time hack
#
[Jo] I'll be in berlin from ca 9am i think so that sounds good to me
#
[tantek] great, then we'll aim to actually kick things off at 09:30 if we can to get some more time!
#
[tantek] that way people can show up and setup their computers etc from 09:00-09:30. maybe I can even make some espressos
