I there a June Movie?
#
[Al_Abut]
[social] I don't think so. Have any ideas for one?
#
[social]
Maybe Red (from the 3 Colors Trillogy) or Lost in Translation. It is not quite hot humid summer yet, but I watch Do the Right Thing in August.
#
[social]
Red and Lost in Translation are easy to stream or watch.
#
thamara_k

Those all sound awesome! Go ahead and grab a slot on the wiki if you want

I think I watched Blue back when I first got into film nerd mode in college? Don't think I've watched the full trilogy.
#
thamara_k
Blue is great, Red's probably my favourite, White was a very different vibe from the other two

I really like Blue, but it wipes me out emotionally and I need to plan when I rewatch it when I have days after that I don’t need to focus or be functional. An amazing movie.

[social] totally makes sense. Definitely not a popcorn movie and maybe later in the summer could work.
#
[Al_Abut]
[tantek] wanna propose Bill & Ted instead for June? It's a nice and lighthearted pick.
#
[tantek]
I would if I had any bandwidth to actually commit to hosting
#
[tantek]
Right now I'm still at the, try to write something sensible and post on my blog every few days phase (ideally every day)
#
[Al_Abut]
No pressure! I can always step in and spin the wheel on my letterboxd logs.
#
[Al_Abut]
And that's awesome that you're blogging regularly. I'll use the June pick as an excuse to unblock a few minor glitches and do the same.
#
[Al_Abut]
And my pick is… across the spiderverse! Fun, lighthearted and yet deeply artistic. Available on Netflix.
#
[tantek]
GREAT pick [Al_Abut]++

#
[tantek]
better than Bill & Ted IMO
#
[Al_Abut]
Glad you like it! Then you'll be happy to learn something I just found out 5 minutes ago - the third film in the series is arriving next year.
#
[Al_Abut]
It jumped out in my watchlist and I was like, I wonder what comic book fans like [artlung] notice about it that I didn't?
#
gRegor
Nice, just re-watched Into the Spiderverse with another movie club. Love those movies, need the third one!
#
gRegor
Learned some fun things from one of the film nerds, a lot of the people moving animation in it is "on the twos" meaning every other frame vs backgrounds being regular speed.
#
[Al_Abut]
Interesting, looking forward to unpacking why that is. For artistic reasons to stutter, economic reasons, both?
#
gRegor
artistic afaik, makes it look more chunky

The animated Spider-Man films have been really good.
