[kiai] [KevinMarks] Yes, hosted Known is different from self-hosted. I have Allow registration off, but the comment feature is still there. This is a bad security issue.

[kiai] There's an Akismet plugin, but even if it worked on the version I've got, I still won't have time to manage it.

[jeremycherfas] I use the Akismet plugin and get email for every comment. It isn’t too hard to keep on top of spam manually.

[kiai] Nah, I can't manage that. Since the moment my site has been back online 3 hours ago, there have been 11 spam comments.

[kiai] I was in graduate school full time for 3 years. That's why I still had 0.9.9 installed. When I went to update it, there were thousands of comments for each post. Fortunately there were only a dozen posts or so.

jeremycherfas Ah yes. I had that problem when the mail notification failed because I forgot to update a password. I'm still finding old spam, but I am almost on top of it.
