Looking at all those locks on /top-level-domain I wonder if it is time to replace the a[href^="https://"] targetting CSS with an open lock for a[href^="http://"]. Making HTTPS the default and calling out non-HTTPS links.

Zegnat: Grayed out upside-down lock with red exclamation point?
#
Zegnat
Not sure why we would put it upside down

Can also go the Mozilla route: https://imgur.com/oXAlc4T

Depends on whether you want something familiar or alarming :-)

The latter doesn’t seem justified in this case

I am not sure what best describes “this URL has no HTTPS”. I don’t think anyone is familiar with a logo for it.
#
Zegnat
I just think labelling every HTTPS url with a lock is overkill, especially on pages that lean to 100% HTTPS links like https://indieweb.org/Top-level-domain

I'd be happy to drop the lock icon. It's a mediawiki thing from a way long time ago. I think we can hide them with css easily
#
Zegnat
They are added 100% by CSS too, so hiding shouldn’t be an issue

Oh nice

aaronpk the wiki seems to auto-link RFC mentions, but without HTTPS. See https://indieweb.org/bearer_token. Can we have it link to HTTPS instead?
#
aaronpk
whaaaat
#
aaronpk
i have no idea
#
Zegnat
I didn’t know it either. But I was confused by the second RFC mention getting linked on /bearer_token after I only linked the first mention of it
#

BTW: /MediaWiki:Common.css is protected, can’t edit it myself
#
aaronpk
oh darn
#
Zegnat
Having that page protected makes sense though ;)

Also: MediaWiki accepts irc:// as protocol, but not ircs://. Me sad.
