since it's the first week of HWC for the year, let's do some clean-up / updating of the /HWC page in terms of actual active now regular cities, co-organizers etc.
#
tantek

#
tantek
what is HWC PDX
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "HWC PDX" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "HWC PDX is ____", a sentence describing the term)

what is Portland
#
Loqi
Portland (AKA PDX) is a city in the US state of Oregon, the site of the inaugural IndieWebCamp, annual IndieWeb Summits, and montly Homebrew Website Club Portland meetups https://indieweb.org/Portland
#
tantek
HWC PDX is /hwcpdx

aaronpk, others, what do you think of having another bot log our publicly archived channels? specifically logbot/globbot
#
tantek
(has already been doing this for sometime in #microforamts)
#
tantek
#microformats *
#
aaronpk
only potential concern is how to get them to redact things from the logs when we do that on chat.indieweb.org
#
tantek
I believe I've done that in the past with #microformats and they've been very responsive
#
aaronpk
fine with me then
#
tantek
just figure another copy for redundancy
#
aaronpk
never hurts
#
aaronpk
tho we do have a copy on github now so at least there's that

gRegorLove: shall we add ChanServ ENTRYMSG for #Indieweb and others ?
#
gRegorLove
Not sure. The Topic text shows when we join, and I think +v people can change that?
#
gRegorLove
e.g. I set the topic in here back in June
#
tantek
ok, figured maybe a welcome, link to CoC, and encouragement to stay user-focused, see also #indieweb-dev might be useful
#
gRegorLove
Is there additional benefit to Chanserv?
#
tantek
things people need more explicit reminding of everytime they sign on?
#
gRegorLove
Sure, CoC is in the topic here
#
tantek
sure, that hasn't been a problem
#
tantek
however, daily jargon ;)
#
gRegorLove
Sorry, I'm confused. The topic shows every time you join, at least for me.
#
gRegorLove
Mabye that's client-specific
#
tantek
client specific
#
tantek
I guess it's not too bad recently
#
tantek
for a while lots of jargon / plumbing chatter was going into #indieweb that should have been in #indieweb-dev
#
aaronpk
could be an opportunity to put a longer message in the chanserv intro and shorten the topic
#
aaronpk
e.g. my client only has one line for the topic so it's always cut off for me https://media.aaronpk.com/Screen-Shot-2018-01-08-15-02-35-a8UFlT6Hph.jpg
#
tantek
aaronpk: interesting. what should come first then? newest info / specific to the channel? e.g. summary description, channel logs, CoC, etc. ?
#
schmarty
hmm. hopefully this is on-topic for this room. i access our IRC channels through the matrix freenode IRC bridge. for the last little while i have not been able to see messages from the slack bridged users.
#
schmarty
i see that slack bridged messages are showing up on chat.indieweb.org, and that folks who (i think) are on IRC are seeing and replying to them.
#
schmarty
so that sounds like a matrix bridge issue? maybe?
#
aaronpk
that sounds very strange

Hi from slack
#
aaronpk
do you see that^^ "[aaronpk] Hi from slack"
#
aaronpk
I wonder if the matrix bridge blocked the bot or something?

i see "Can you hear us now?" from gRegorLove in IRC, nought else.
#
gRegorLove
Weird, not even aaronpk's tap tap from IRC?
#
Loqi
[schmarty] so that sounds like a matrix bridge issue? maybe?
#
schmarty
no, in fact, that is interesting.
#
schmarty
haha, i see loqi
#
Loqi
hehe
#
aaronpk
k then I blame the matrix bridge :)
