do we have a list of all the HWC cities from 2017 easily accessible?
#
tantek
from /Planning maybe?
#
tantek
planned?
#
aaronpk
https://indieweb.org/Homebrew_Website_Club has a pretty good list assuming it's up to date
#
tantek
yes I've had that challenge in every year I've tried to write-up the indieweb year in review
#
tantek
I've had to manually go through every HWC event and try to verify which ones happened (per photos and/or notes)
#
aaronpk
speaking of which we kind of failed with https://indieweb.org/2016-review, it's mostly a stub
#
tantek
basically if a city doesn't take a photo, doesn't take/post notes, or even chat in IRC, there's no evidence that the HWC meetup actually happened.
#
tantek
might try messaging the organizer(s) and asking them which ones actually happened
#
aaronpk
let's try to get https://indieweb.org/2017-review filled out in a week or two
#
tantek
I know I kinda dropped the ball on the past two :/
#
tantek
was /2014-review the last one we filled out properly?
#
aaronpk
I mean I dropped the ball too, it shouldnt be any one person's responsibility to fill that out.
#
tantek
ok I screwed up my event permalink for the first time
#
tantek
looks like I need to write more code, do less manually

aaronpk I think 2014 was the most thorough job I did - maybe stub equivalen sections for 2017?
#
aaronpk
maybe, tho that thoroughness is also very intimidating
#
aaronpk
I would rather have *some* info about 2015 and 2016 even if it's not nearly as through vs no summary at all
#
tantek
yeah that's fair MVP and all.
#
tantek
well start with stub sections, and we can just post what we come up with, say by 1/24 HWC
#
tantek
which is also good in sync with celebrating 1M webmentions
#
aaronpk
right after IWC Baltimore
#
gRegorLove
/HWC should be pretty up-to-date at least since the summit LS, we talked about it a lot and re-organized, came up with criteria to bump up and down
#
gRegorLove
I think Zegnat and sknebel have kept up with that more
#
gRegorLove
I'll finish adding the /2017 attendees on /2017-review, unless someone is already editing that section.
#
gRegorLove
It would be easier if there were h-cards :)

I am not too sure I have actually kept up with /HWC :(

Thanks! We need one more person to confirm the retweet!
#
Zegnat
It has never actually attracted a visitor, but the tweet always gets some likes and retweets. So maybe still worth it.

Delete of wiki stuff stays in page history forever, right?
#
jeremycherfas
tantek I'm conflicted about the value of documented decision tree for IG report. I can see that it may be useful as documentation, but is it of value to someone who simply wants to be able to report abuse?
#
jeremycherfas
It seems to me that everything from Instagram 2015 doown to Facebook could be deleted without diminishing the value of that page.
#
jeremycherfas
I guess the same is true of the documentation of the Facebook stuff, but that's not my current concern. :)
#
tantek
jeremycherfas: historical reasons are worth it
#
jeremycherfas
They're not reasons as much as they are examples.
#
tantek
perhaps even more importantly, by capturing design iterations, we often capture *better* designs that silos go through
#
sknebel
move to a subpage maybe?
#
tantek
e.g. we have many iterations of Twitter presentation of tweets captured
#
tantek
sknebel: nah, not unless it gets too long
#
tantek
the other place where we've documented a bunch of design iterations is event posts, specifically from FB
#
aaronpk
moving lower in the page makes sense if you want to focus the page on actionable aspects of the current interface
#
tantek
where in particular some of the earlier / older designs were *better*
#
tantek
jeremycherfas: see for example https://indieweb.org/event#Facebook
#
tantek
and the subheads there for the iterations, and screenshots
#
jeremycherfas
The section is headed Silo Examples. I could see a section at the same level headed Historical silo examples.
#
tantek
no need, just subhead under the specific silo
#
jeremycherfas
OK. You win. Glad I didn't do any more.

#
tantek
that way it's setup better for moving to a subpage as sknebel suggests if/when it gets too big/intrusive for the topic
#
tantek
also more discoverable if you're looking for what a specific silo has done over time
#
tantek
jeremycherfas: another example (different from the /event#Facebook docs) https://indieweb.org/Twitter#History
#
tantek
but that documents that silo UI in general, rather than just a specific post type, so I suppose we have examples for either
#
tantek
historical specific post presentation
#
tantek
or historical UI from a silo in general

say, that gives me an idea for the chanserv welcome message... it could mention the other channels as well
#
aaronpk
that would be something more appropriate for the chanserv message that wouldn't make sense in the topic
#
tantek
in particular I think we need that for the main channel, to redirect dev-specific chat
#
tantek
IMO that's the primary (nearly daily) use-case
#
aaronpk
yes, but also to make people aware of the other channels like this one, given how many fewer people there are here
#
tantek
unsure which channel to use? ask in meta :)
#
Zegnat
Do people see the chanserv messages? Mine get dumped into the Server window so I never read them
#
Zegnat
Interesting, you can’t create a page as “minor edit”? I thought we could do that before? I would have hidden https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2018-01-10/1515608294810000
