!tell tantek I have checked the email I received from TinyLetter, and while I personally would not describe it as a site death, I can see that it raises questions for you. Users have always been able to export a list of their subscribers, and that is true for MailChimp too. I have emailed TinyLetter to ask whether it is possible to export the text of all newsletters.
#
Loqi
Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next

!tell tantek Replies to TinyLetter emails are forwarded to the user's own mailbox, so they have a copy of those. There is no other data available to users.

That’s a weird one, petermolnar. Reproducible? Both logged in and logged out?
#
aaronpk
"ic is undefined"?
#
aaronpk
I just installed noscript and I don't see that
#
petermolnar
I'll try a few things later on
#
petermolnar
gone now o.O
#
petermolnar
this is weird
#
aaronpk
is it some other extension adding something to the page?
#
petermolnar
ok, my bad, still have it
#
petermolnar
seems like it only happens with a cookie-cleared browser, only on http://indieweb.org
#
petermolnar
and it could be another extension
#
petermolnar
ok, it is mosty probably caused by a combination of HTTPS Everywhere, http://, and noscript
#
petermolnar
which might fall into pebkac

Zegnat, shall we try iterating on the HWC event "template" again?
#
Zegnat
I’ll have to have a sit down to compare it with a fresh eye later this evening. But always happy to iterate!
#
tantek
I'm trying to at least make minor improvements that seem uncontroversial. small steps sooner rather than big steps later. hopefully reducing the amount of "surprise" to folks coming back to the pages week after week also
#
tantek
also wanting to get February pages up soon-ish
#
tantek
anyway just wanted your feedback on 01-24 vs 01-10 before replicating 01-24 into 02-07 and 02-21
#
Zegnat
I’ll schedule some time for it, but it will probably have to wait ’til after dinner on my end :(
#
tantek
no problem! go eat :)

oh hey gRegorLove - same q for u. shall we try iterating on the HWC event "template" again? in particular, compare https://indieweb.org/events/2018-01-24-homebrew-website-club to https://indieweb.org/events/2018-01-10-homebrew-website-club

Moving the "What" section down is interesting. I haven't been in the HWC game for a while now, so don't have strong opinions either way.
#
tantek
if 01-24 looks "good enough" or you can't think of any obvious iterative improvements, I'm ok to just replicate it for 02-07 and 02-21 and then we can see if we get bigger ideas next month
#
gRegorLove
Looks good overall!
#
tantek
yeah I deliberately moved the What section down because it didn't change much, and typically when people quickly refer (back) to an event they do so to confirm *when* (do they have to get toing to make it), and *where* (should they start heading toward)
#
gRegorLove
Did the Burger Queen visit SF on that 1/24 meeting? Looking at the picture, on the right. heh.
#
gRegorLove
Yeah, makes sense.
#
tantek
hahah no that was sdepolo honoring BK's very public Net Neutrality stance (via the ad) by bringing BK to HWC
#
Loqi
nice
#
tantek
what is net neutrality
#
Loqi
Net Neutrality is the idea that all data moving over the internet is treated the same, no matter between who it travels https://indieweb.org/Net_Neutrality
#
tantek
net neutrality << 2018-01-25 LA Times: [http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-net-neutrality-burger-king-20180125-story.html Burger King ad explains net neutrality with flame-grilled Whoppers] (photo, video)
#
Loqi
ok, I added "2018-01-25 LA Times: [http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-net-neutrality-burger-king-20180125-story.html Burger King ad explains net neutrality with flame-grilled Whoppers] (photo, video)" to the "See Also" section of /net_neutrality
