jgmac1106_is anyone putting in an #IndieWeb proposal for MozFest? Looking at you [KevinMarks} but really for anyone in EU with funds to get to Ravensbourne MozFest is one of the best conferences I have attended
jgmac1106_yeah it is really cool. I think Jason from HWC-Baltimore was a “Space Wrangler” (a conference strand is called a Space, the organizer a Wrangler) last year he can fill folks in as well. I was supposed to Space Wrangle in 2016 but had to cancel as my brother secretly flew in for Halloween
tantek__what do people think of limting / curating it to be specifically about: "Projects incubated by and also actively in use by the IndieWeb Community" (and moving any other projects to subpages) ?

tantek__jgmac1106, miklb I figured you may have some opinions about making /projects more useful, since you've thought a lot about the same kinds of issues for WordPress related setup / projects
jgmac1106_as long as I am being helpful, don’t want to chase rabbit holes if it doesn’t support folks. I am trying to document each theme, each plugin, and each syndication option but takes time. I think [miklb] idea of just building a framework for mf2 using the tool LinkedIn launched is a good idea
jgmac1106_I also think we should encourage and recruit popular theme developers to revise their themes, or get community member to make child themes that have correct mf2, everything breaks down there
tantek__jgmac1106 what I'm wondering about is more the high-level documentation of approaches, people that want to consider WordPress and other options too
jgmac1106_ohh okay I see what you are saying so almost a starter guide of the projects page https://indieweb.org/projects though I don’t see micro.blog there. Is that an oversight or deliberate?
jgmac1106_For gen2 folks I see the options as WordPress: pick one of four themes or test out your existing theme, Known-Download from GitHub, install, set up MySQL Database, Micro.blog-sign up for monthky service or how to install on your own, Drupal…..haven’t gotten there yet but has a higher technical barrier, still need to try it for this
jgmac1106_[tantek] what we really need are more one button install options in CPanel or Installatron, just bugged friends at ReClaim Hosting to update their Known packages. They wont’t
tantek__jgmac1106_: sounds like there needs to be an officially update package (which is a reasonable request), not just "go get the latest from github"
tantek__and that updated package needs to have release notes about which security bugs have been fixed, which features added etc., which will then help encourage web hosting companies to update to it!
jgmac1106_[mapkyca] been doing a great job and he launched the “unofficial” release page Ben said an “official 1.0” was coming soon that would be stripping all the commercial packages (Convoy, etc). I would assume that will be the last
Loqi[superfeedr] "I would add one last step: Publish your tweets from your own blog and syndicate to Twitter using #IndieWeb..." by Greg McVerry on 2018-06-19 https://jgregorymcverry.com/3662-2/
tantek__jgmac1106_: indeed. just noticed your edit to Getting Started. Not sure I agree with putting community second though perhaps we can reframe it in a way that allows more knowledgable folks to skip it until they need it
tantek__and frankly, we can't offer that level of "reading" support to "everyone" yet (not even all of gen1) because it's still proof of concept (very good proof) more than deployed open source that you can go setup yourself
jgmac1106_yeah my thought as well and we are all stoked for future of readers. His entire thread was about decentralized readers…though while I myself ain’t that religous I think God has quite the market share of bloggers
tantek__I'd like to see that sooner than later too, including screenshots of mobile clients showing indieweb reading, with proper chronological timelines etc.
tantek__kevinmarks perhaps? MozFest itself is on the weekend, and TPAC is immediately before that M-F, so maybe right after? but then that starts to collide with Halloween
tantek__kevinmarks, perhaps reach out (by email?) to adactio and see what he thinks, I know he still wants to help make an IWC Brighton happen this year
LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "Installatron" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "Installatron is ____", a sentence describing the term)
