colors are hard
#
aaronpk
I think I found green/blue/purples that match the tones of the existing red/orange/yellow
#
tantek__
that's actually quite pretty
#
aaronpk
i've been finding I am needing secondary brand colors occasionally
#
aaronpk
and picking random colors doesn't work, they need to match the primary colors

Glad we posted this: https://blog.mozilla.org/netpolicy/2018/09/12/eucopyrightreform/ - unclear what the impacts are going to be on indieweb projects but likely to be some

These look good. I think I like 'ask me' slightly better, but it'd have to be smaller so maybe not worth it.

It’s what, a 7 hour difference? So don’t go later than 18:00 if you don’t want people to stay up past 1am on this side of the pond.

you can do local on the ground keynotes or remote watch ours

btw we came to the conclusion that it's okay to use a color scheme for the pins that's not 100% colorblind accessible since the information that the color provides is also duplicated by the words (shape and size as well as actual text)
#
Zegnat
aaronpk, I agree there. Staying clear of any blues and reds for a masculine and feminine divide is a win in my book anyway.
#
Zegnat
Still thought it would be interesting to run your rainbow through some filters

I do like how Mumble did this, they provided a monochromatic option...the leveling was useless, but the design was good
#

I want to place the order for the pins today. any other ideas for the current design? https://indieweb.org/pronoun#IndieWebCamp_pronouns_pins
#
[jgmac1106]
seems to match the style guide well
#
aaronpk
now i'm wondering if colored background with white letters would work better https://media.aaronpk.com/Screen-Shot-2018-09-13-07-47-03-uYrnfTMOMp.jpg
#
[jgmac1106]
it does look less like a poker chip
#
aaronpk
haha I hadn't even made the poker chip connection
#
[jgmac1106]
i also like the no drop shadow
#
[jgmac1106]
even if we stick with white I would lose it
#
aaronpk
drop shadow?
#
aaronpk
you mean the grey outline?
#
[jgmac1106]
the darkr black line, around the text, not really a drop shadow, sorry
#
aaronpk
without that, the colors don't stand out enough from the background really
#
aaronpk
well the yellow mostly
#
Zegnat
I like the white on solid colour. I do wonder about the font and what side the printing is going to be. If the pins are small, a more straight font might turn out more legible. E.g. not the little extra nook at the join of the k diagonals.
#
[jgmac1106]
i like the full color pins anyway...we should just order an old school button maker and have people maker their own Indie style
#
Zegnat
s/side/size/
#
aaronpk
they're 1.25" round
#
aaronpk
the text is 40pt
#
[jgmac1106]
kidding I like these, what is font size of the urls?
#
Zegnat
Ah, should be fine at 40pt I expect :)
#
aaronpk
the small white letters are 4pt (but that's the recommended size from the printer), the "indieweb.org/pronoun" line is 7.8pt
#
aaronpk
ooh now that shadow effect actually _helps_ improve the contrast https://media.aaronpk.com/Screen-Shot-2018-09-13-08-04-58-9m6qRRYEeo.jpg

Okay yep I am now converted as well
#
[jgmac1106]
You like it bc drop shadow was The effect in 1998
#
aaronpk

this appears to be called a "long shadow"
