[jgmac1106] I think you misunderstand. We’ve classified various HWC cities according how frequent / reliable they are
#
[tantek]
Pleas read /HWC
#
[tantek]
This has nothing to do with renaming HWC
#
[jgmac1106]
just did, thx for clarification "vocabulary words"
#
[jgmac1106]
...you know I am totally going to remix Marty's podcast into lessons on academic vocabulary
#
[schmarty]
Is that a subtle critique of the too-dense language I use on the pod? 😂
#
@jgmac1106
↩️ Our little #IndieWeb corner  has created a place I love to live and learn. #OpenBadges kind of feels like badges for education and I want badges for learning. Not a knock I just love knowledge carried in html. No maintainers. Just me. Freedom (http://jgregorymcverry.com/7703-2/)
(twitter.com/_/status/1048029506500534272)
#
[jgmac1106]
no , no , not all. A perfect in the field example of how tiers of vocabulary
#
[jgmac1106]
you come in overwhelmed and masterfully remixed this in audio and now could spit....in fact in your next podcast do an overlay of all the vocab you now know and use all the time
#
[jgmac1106]
be amazing
#
[jgmac1106]
but it was perfect example of how open networks support distributed knowledge learning
#
[schmarty]
Oh *that* podcast bit. I thought you meant TWITIWAE 😂
#
[jgmac1106]
hey if you subscribe to a podcast of somenone reading an email about weekly wiki updates you better expect dense language
#
[jgmac1106]
no I really liked it
#
[schmarty]
It’s interest that that comes up. I actually try to avoid even our high-level jargon when I can. E.g. I never say “POSSE” when I can say something like “syndicate posts from your own site onto social networks”
#
[schmarty]
Interesting*
#
[schmarty]
Cuz there is jargon and then there is jargon.
#
[jgmac1106]
Can't help but take my ed psych hat off and watch the learning happen in situ....that marked a point....and now I contrast that against TWITIWAE and its perfect story of how learning happens in open source spaces
#
[jgmac1106]
not places that work open or places building open source tools, but open source spaces
#
@jgmac1106
↩️ This is a very niche use case. Anyone using #IndieWeb readers or sites would have an h-card on their site, and anyone who remixes our course templates will have an h-card built it in. I am really just building for me and my friends. (http://jgregorymcverry.com/7711-2/)

#

Yes totally. Basically the key is to make everyone feel welcome, share a few announcements of what’s new in the community & what’s coming up eg IWC Berlin, and show your website, something new you did or posted, and invited others to show their websites too!

Zegnat: how about "IndieWeb Live"
#
Zegnat
Live makes me think of a video broadcast.
#
gRegorLove
or is it IndieWeb Memorex?
#
gRegorLove
on-topic: no IWC NYC photo showing in newsletter
#
aaronpk
It'll go next time it generates
#
aaronpk
some day I'll make a Loqi command to regenerate the newsletter on demand
#
Zegnat
gives Loqi a cookie to regenerate the newsletter
#
Loqi
Thanks, Zegnat!

I'm going to call it hwc
#

Zegnat, you have to give Loqi the cookie *after* he regenerates the newsletter in order to reinforce the operant conditioning.
#

[tmiller]: great! what date?
#
tantek__
was assuming 2018-10-17 on schedule but figured would check first
#
[tmiller]
Is actually like to do it this coming Wednesday almost like a trial run
#
[tmiller]
Then I could hold the next one when everyone does it
#
tantek__
oh great! then we'll have it on the same day as HWC MV!
#
[tmiller]
Do I stream the meeting or just record it? I'm having it at a coffee shop/lounge

#

[tmiller]: for the first meeting don't worry about doing either
#
tantek__
if the coffeeshop or lounge lets you setup or use a projector that would be cool but not essential (for showing people's sites, demos etc.)
#
[tmiller]
Okay I will definitely take pictures though
#
tantek__
that's very important :D
#
[tmiller]
Yeah they have u shaped tables/booths so I'm thinking that'll be a good set up incase we can't do a projector
#
tantek__
[tmiller]: I stubbed a NYC section on the wiki page for next Wednesday: https://indieweb.org/events/2018-10-10-homebrew-website-club#New_York_City - feel free to edit!

#

Just noticed that the /irc_people page now redirects to chat-names. Kudos for the change to something less #dev!
