#tantek__ah we already have "if they do not happen for three months, bump them back down to Getting Started."
#tantek__ah and more than six months gets bumped to needs restarting
#tantek__!tell Eddie do you remember when was the most recent HWC Frederick MD? (also the Meetup group says it no longer exists! Did you delete it or did it expire?)
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "suspension" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "suspension is ____", a sentence describing the term)

#tantek__!tell aaronpk would it be accurate to characterize HWC PDX as a "popup" since it does occasionally occur but not longer on a regular basis (e.g. once a month) ?
#aaronpkYep I guess Portland is bumped to popup status
#Loqiaaronpk: tantek__ left you a message 30 minutes ago: would it be accurate to characterize HWC PDX as a "popup" since it does occasionally occur but not longer on a regular basis (e.g. once a month) ?
#aaronpk[schmarty]: omg can we make webmention cards a thing?
#[jgmac1106]Pop-up status? we going with that over meet-up? Fine with either? and also just letting folks call em how they see em on the ground
#[jgmac1106]....sorry to many idioms. Bad localization. Allow organizers to decide on what to call events based on how the local audience would respond.
#aaronpkIn Portland terms it would be considered a meetup
#[jgmac1106]no , no , not all. A perfect in the field example of how tiers of vocabulary
#[jgmac1106]you come in overwhelmed and masterfully remixed this in audio and now could spit....in fact in your next podcast do an overlay of all the vocab you now know and use all the time
#[schmarty]It’s interest that that comes up. I actually try to avoid even our high-level jargon when I can. E.g. I never say “POSSE” when I can say something like “syndicate posts from your own site onto social networks”
#[schmarty]Cuz there is jargon and then there is jargon.
#[jgmac1106]Can't help but take my ed psych hat off and watch the learning happen in situ....that marked a point....and now I contrast that against TWITIWAE and its perfect story of how learning happens in open source spaces
#[jgmac1106]not places that work open or places building open source tools, but open source spaces
#[tantek][jgmac1106] did the time/frequency based terms on /HWC make sense to you?
#[jgmac1106]assuming right after work, 18:30-19:30. comes from a place of privilege, would drop qualifier
#[jgmac1106]and i want to do HWC but I coach my kids soccer teams on Wednesday and he will win out every time
#[jgmac1106]I think we should encourage the common day bc its fun but put in language to allow changes on the ground
#[jgmac1106]I like th epage a lot, built in motivation around history
#[jgmac1106]check long TOC on a phone, not sure what it would like
#[jgmac1106]@zegnat maybe its three pages CoC, Privacy, and Research...will only talk about last one. I could turn Marty's audio clips a case study used for publication. But should I? Everything is public domain..well links to podcast..but should active research be documented, while note enforceable guidelines be suggested?
#[jgmac1106]like ask, even when licensed openly, if someone is comfortable with work being shared...it gets sticky
#[tantek]And the “IndieWeb Meetup” name is a go, for Vancouver at least. Let’s see how it goes
#[tantek]Note: 11/20 will be 5 years of HWC, so if we’re considering a renaming/rebranding to expand to “meetup” to be more inclusive, that might be a good timeframe for a transition

#@robpegoraroIf you care about the #indieweb, here's one thing you can do: Don't listen to podcasts in a proprietary gatekeeping app and instead subscribe directly at their own sites. (twitter.com/_/status/1048201267166818304)

#[jgmac1106]Hey @jmac would you be interested in going to an IndieWeb Meet Up somewhere in Providence if my buddy EduQuinn set it up? Even if its just the three of us, though we are both pretty well tied in local edtech circles, it would be fun
#jmacI am always a fan of delicately balance going outside of my house with no going too terribly far, yes
#jmac(Also thank you for the introduction on twitter, I am terribly backlogged and witll catch up presently)
#[jgmac1106]sweet will ping him on Twitter, I actually feel bad about unannounced hand shakes
#[jgmac1106]but we had talked about it at the NYC Meet Up so figured it was okay
#jmacI went from the NYC meetup (which THANK YOU for hosting, by the way) straight to launching IFComp and then wrapping up my contract with a client. Today is my first day off at home in at least two weeks. zzz
#jmac(Of course I'm spending it catching up on Plerd work but that's an energy source for me)
#jmacI also worked in three friend and client visits in Manhattan and so got dragged all over Manhattan until the wee hours pretty much every night. (Not a complaint)
#[tmiller][tantek] thanks! As a Co-organizer and the one hosting the hwc meeting I'm still not sure how to actually go about running it, I've read the wiki but I feel like because I don't know as much I may not explain things well to people who come if that makes sense
#[tantek]Yes totally. Basically the key is to make everyone feel welcome, share a few announcements of what’s new in the community & what’s coming up eg IWC Berlin, and show your website, something new you did or posted, and invited others to show their websites too!
#[jgmac1106][tmiller] any idea on a date? probably won't work with my schedule but would be awesome if it does
#[tmiller]I wanted to try to keep it as close to the other hwc meetup on Wednesdays if possible. I know you said you do soccer coaching, do you know when you'll be in NY
#[jgmac1106]A: do it on your time not mine, I am there Oct 11th but have a meeting at 6:00
#[tmiller][tantek] that seems a lot less scary than what I thought I'd need to do
#[jgmac1106]Do Wed if you can they are really fun to be online with other cities, creates an energy
#[tmiller]I'm looking for spaces today to try and do one this coming Wednesday hopefully
#[tantek][tmiller] keeping it simple and informal like that will make it easy on you and encouraging to everyone else! Plus you might even have fun 😆
#[tmiller]I will definitely have fun! I just thought I'd need to teach things like at IWC and that made me nervous
#GWGIf I can work out the time, I could come from Queens to help
#gRegorLoveAre we still using the headings like "US East" on HWC pages? 10-03 doesn't have it, but 10-17 does. I thought maybe we removed those a while back
#sknebelthey might have sneaked back in through copy paste
#sknebelI think we said we don't want them, or at least not if it's not a totally full day
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "nuremberg web week" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "nuremberg web week is ____", a sentence describing the term)

#LoqiNürnberg Digital Festival is a regular set of events, including a weekend IndieWebCamp (since 2016), and overall is an annual (since 2012) week-long festival that focusing on the effects of digital technologies on society, art and culture, education, as well as economics and technology itself https://indieweb.org/N%C3%BCrnberg_Digital_Festival
#[eddie]Thanks for removing the caveat tantek, I was gonna bring that up
#Loqi[eddie]: tantek__ left you a message 18 hours, 15 minutes ago: do you remember when was the most recent HWC Frederick MD? (also the Meetup group says it no longer exists! Did you delete it or did it expire?)
#[eddie]ohhh, I don’t remember exactly. It was earlier this year. I deleted the Meetup because you get charged monthly for Meetup accounts, so when I stopped meeting due to lack of attendance I deleted my Meetup account as well
#[eddie]My goal is to try to restart under the term IndieWeb meetup in early 2019 (once my son starts sleeping through the night better and I have a bit more free time. lol)
#sknebel[Rose]: Zegnat and I will be in Nürnberg already on that day, so we're likely not available (and thus removed the EU time one from the list), but feel free to add it
#gRegorLoveMore often than the Virtual Americas one afaik, yeah
