That's very similar to the idea behind Microsub - "it decouples managing subscriptions and delivering content from the presentation of that content." I have enjoyed using the clients that support it. https://indieweb.org/Microsub #scriptingnews http://scripting.com/2019/03/25.html#a131235

[jgmac1106] the wiki doesn't do anything with webmentions currently, so that would have to be it's own big project first (to be able to do something sensible with displaying received webmentions, whether comments, RSVPs, or photos)

#
[jgmac1106]
How do you handle the lumping of everything under the "semantic web" and "Web 3.0?"
#
[jgmac1106]
Didn't get into it on Cathie's piece but pointed out different metadata definitions and the more pop culture term of semantic web/web3.0
#
[jgmac1106]
On Twitter with technical people
#
[tantek]
[jgmac1106] it's not the first time such lumping has occuered 😂😂
#
[jgmac1106]
Not really meta anymore
#
[tantek]
[jgmac1106] such lumping kind of is, especially when documented by templates like this at Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Semantic_Web
#
[tantek]
I have no idea how to "fix" that Template nor what the goals of that template really are from which to pursue "fixing" it
#
[tantek]
Talk page doesn't even mention such concerns
#
[jgmac1106]
I don't understand what you just shared.
#
[jgmac1106]
Might start a science fiction novel where a crew stumbles on alien ruins and reads a tablet that says "The above documentation is transcluded from Template:Semantic Web/doc. (edit | history)
#
[jgmac1106]
Editors can experiment in this template's sandbox (create | mirror) and testcases"
#
[tantek]
[jgmac1106] that's the view of a template embedded in the bottom of nearly every article about Semantic Web or microformats on Wikipedia
#
[tantek]
it's one of the navigational/organizational things wikipedia does to try to group "related" articles inside some sort of structure more than just a list of "Related" pages
#
[tantek]
I suppose you could call it an "ontology"
