which says it is a repost of all of: tantek's tweet, tantek's original post, tantek's short url, and the event url

now I can't find the FAQ for that
#
aaronpk
but I know it's there
#
aaronpk
in practice it normally means you see full conversation threads on your own posts even if you don't support threading on your site
#
aaronpk
but this is a strange side effect of it
#
[tantek]
that might be something to ask about tweaking in Bridgy Backfeed
#
[tantek]
maybe that's good for in-reply-to, but not for repost-of
#
aaronpk
yeah I need to think about the specifics of the request

It's #HomebrewWebsiteClub Nottingham tonight! https://www.jvt.me/events/homebrew-website-club-nottingham/2020/01/08/ I'm not 100% what I'm working on - it may be finalising my http://Meetup.com http://Brid.gy integration, or may be just on my own site! (https://www.jvt.me/mf2/2020/01/f1zk5/)

The first generation of Web people were the ham radio tinkerers. The second generation were attracted by its cultural significance. The third generation saw it as a business opportunity. The fourth generation saw it as a way to amplify their personal brand.

Back towards the IndieWeb: Another aspect to creating my own blogging software: I can finally start implementing some of #indieweb principles I’ve been watching for a while. One of those is POSSE (Publi http://173.255.215.158/2020/01/back-towards-the-indieweb

↩️ IndieWeb on ex-Microsoft & ex-Google ihmisten vetämä projekti/ideologia, ja Mozilla näyttäisi olevan rahoittamassa sen kehitystä nykyään. Osa webin core-tekniikoiden & standardien kehittäjistä kyseisessä liikehdinnässä mukana, mutta en näe että ihan heti muuttaisi paljoa asioita.

trutfully be cool if any Finnish speakers in the community came back and said something like , "I am glad you bring such strong values for the web. We agree in many ways. In fact IndieWeb is 100% self organizes and self funded. Mozilla does make space available and may cover a meal at an event. We are thankful to them and all our value driven sponsors....

A fairly easy result for #HomebrewWebsiteClub - don't try resending Webmentions (for two weeks) if the target doesn't support Webmentions https://gitlab.com/jamietanna/www-api/merge_requests/68 (https://www.jvt.me/mf2/2020/01/qya7q/)

Thanks, I added 1 photo to the event
#
jamietanna[m]
aaronpk thanks! That's very snazzy
#
aaronpk
you can also link to the event in your post and send a webmention and it'll add it!
#
jamietanna[m]
I was going to say maybe I should've linked it - may do next time. Is the idea that we should be using events. as the primary source for events, or that they should be i.e. on our own sites?
#
aaronpk
it's up to you as the HWC organizer, but I know several other people didn't want to post HWC events on their own sites since and would prefer to use the indieweb domain as the canonical source
#
aaronpk
personally i never felt right making my website the canonical event post for HWC, since it's not "my" event, it's an indieweb event
#
jamietanna[m]
that's fair, I'll have a think about what I want to do with it! I may not always be the one organising it forever, so that's definitely fair long-term
#
aaronpk
yeah that's another good reason! but in any case the copy on events.indieweb.org can still collect photos and is easier for people to find that way
#
[tantek]
that's a really good and subtle distinction aaronpk, definitely worth noting it in the /event page maybe under brainstorming? "Where should I post an event"
#
[tantek]
I'm thinking of considering implementing reposts of events so instead of creating a duplicate indie event on my site, I can repost the event from events.indieweb and then POSSE that repost from my site to Twitter
#
aaronpk
i love the idea of reposting events
#
[tantek]
small matter of figuring out the presentation and markup for what a "repost of an event" looks like, however I feel like that's something I can brainstorm as I build
#
[tantek]
"small matter" 🙂
