this might be just me
#
jacky
but the "Examples" part of some Wiki pages remind me of the things that are kept to the bottom of most Wikipedia artcile
#
jacky
like the footnotes
#
jacky
like, yes, examples are key but they tend to be more citations of an example than the actual example?
#
jacky
I'm looking at this for WebSub and there's more content on the page about examples than WebSub itself :(
#
[tantek]
A lot of our pages started when someone actually built / supported something, hence the example first
#
[tantek]
In the early years (2011-2012) we had a brief surge of theoretical stuff being proposed by folks that were never going to actually bother to build it (they usually didn't even have their own site, yet they somehow had figured out how far more complex things should work)

what is Welcoming
#
Loqi
Welcoming is how we as a community welcome new members to our community https://indieweb.org/welcoming
#
[tantek]
so we developed a set of first contact protocols to help nudge well-intentioned folks along the path of personal site development, which helped give folks a quick sense of accomplishment and community
#
[tantek]
this also served as a hedge / gentle barrier against the theoreticians that were looking for acolytes to follow them but didn't actually bother to build/make anything useful. the early principles helped with this as well

↩️ If you want an early look there are some upcoming online Homebrew Website Club meetings which are relatively similar, but which have a more diverse background of attendees, while I imagine the DoOO-based versions will be more educator/student focused. https://boffosocko.com/2020/07/03/55773093/?replytocom=296437#respond

[Ana_Rodrigues] Three is a good number IMO. That way the tag page for each city shows a regular weekly pattern, and assuming we get people to subscribe to the ICS there, it shows up in their calendars with plenty of advance time

@jamesvandyne
Found out that the #indieweb plugin Bridgy (posts/backfeeds replies/likes from twitter into my site) will attach the featured image of a post to Twitter. Now I want a dedicated “Tweet-through-your-blog WordPress client” app.
