I looked at /crowdfunding because I have come across two independent implementations of something very like Kickstarter, but find the redirect to /payments currently unsatisfactory. Problem is, I don't know how to create a crowdfunding page avoiding the redirect. Also, how comprehensive would it need to be with respect to silo crowdfunders in order to be useful to IndieWeb?

crowdfunding is the practice of asking people to promise to buy a project, sometimes with a set goal to trigger payments, other times with no set goal, which is generally implemented by siloed organisations https://indieweb.org/crowdfunding

alright, going to need some help with figuring out how to best garden this: https://indieweb.org/Special:WhatLinksHere/selfdogfood and instead how to contextually link to https://indieweb.org/eat_what_you_cook instead, while preserving historical discussions that were literally about the phrase "selfdogfood" rather than the concept which we have replaced with "eat what you cook"

Looks like just over 100 links... Perhaps a historical section on eat what you cook that cross links to selfdogfood with the historical details and content, but change all the examples of selfdogfood on other pages, which presumably wouldn't have historical conversation, to link to the eat what you cook page?
#
[chrisaldrich]
many of them are redirects for other variations of selfdogfood...
#
[chrisaldrich]
Is there a programattic way in MediaWiki for changing links in bulk? Obviously we'll want to rename the references on many of those pages.
#
[tantek]
no some of the links from other pages are historical and make less sense with an attempted search & replace
jjuran and [jgmac1106] joined the channel
#
[chrisaldrich]
Which are those historical pages though. I suspect most of them are simple examples of people who were selfdogfooding with links to that page. The main page itself and perhaps a few of the session based ones are likely the historical ones that we may want to keep. Search and replace would need to be done at a higher level than most have access to anyway, and then there's no record in the wiki history of that, is there?
#
[chrisaldrich]
I imagine that the redirect ones like self-dogfooding, selfdogfooding, and Selfdogfood, which are a large number of the cases are non-historical.
#
[chrisaldrich]
It's probably a manual process in any case for looking at each of the 100 or so pages and doing a replacement for the word/links unless there's more historical material that we want to save?
#
[chrisaldrich]
Do you have an example of a page with historical details we'd want to save other than the original page itself?
#
[tantek]
quotes from people saying selfdogfood which we then linked to the page are one class. which would include notes from past IWC sessions
