here's a question.. if I were to add some basic registration stuff into Meetable, what would be the bare minimum needed to use it in place of tito?
#
aaronpk
Meetable has been live for a year now, and i think it's worked out quite well, so i'm interested in expanding its scope a bit
#
aaronpk
I'm also considering using it for some work events that need registration
#
aaronpk
anything else?
#
[KevinMarks]
The other thing was sessions within larger events (as getting those out in calendar form is very handy)
#
aaronpk
hm yeah, but we don't really have anything we're using to do that right now that it would be replacing
#
aaronpk
i don't think we'd use that for each session at a full indiewebcamp though, that'd be too much duplication between adding the sessions and editing the schedule grid
#
[KevinMarks]
Well it could be the session grid. Though I suppose that does open up the ordering can of worms we were talking about.
#
aaronpk
I could see adding events for the intro and demo sessions for example, but probably not each session

You mean three sessions in parallel?
#

also most of these edge cases can be accomplished by just writing whatever in the description field
#

I'm more interested in structural things

managing the grid with the wiki is a bit of a pain, I can see a dedicated tool being easier, but that is the tradeoff of effort.
#
aaronpk
I also think there's a lot of benefit to the actual grid layout, so any replacement would have to also do that
#
[KevinMarks]
agreed - a grid for an event is very useful -this isn't arbitrary nesting of events, it is the session grid that's needed, and it's been something we tried to come up with a way to add microformats to before and found it hard because of the implied time and venue from the grid. I think that is what drove the include pattern originally, though that probably is too complex.
#
[KevinMarks]
though now we have CSS grid that may be a more natural thing to do in layout compared to table wrangling or floats

↩️ Very interested to see that this has goals to extend beyond twitter - this is something that we have been talking about as a need for distributed sites in #indieweb - we're having a discussion about it next week if you or colleagues would eb interested https://events.indieweb.org/2021/01/respectful-responses-SoijMaY9KH7P

hm, are people signing up for this making twitter slow down?

Many who attended @WeAreNew_Public's #NewPublicFestival earlier this week may be interested in this upcoming IndieWebCamp pop up session. https://boffosocko.com/2021/01/15/55785619/

The other day I saw a blog which used Webmentions for comments, but also linked to a service where people could send a #Webmention without having a site of their own to send from, like an #indieweb version of Disqus. Can anyone… https://scholar.social/@petrichor/105565514288932214

I’m not saying any of y’all are gonna incite coups soon, but Twitter’s (totally valid) #banning of #Trump does remind individuals of risks of #platform dependence. #POSSE is lower risk setup: see http://blog.w4rner.com/about for my setup using http://micro.blog | #indieweb #tech
