yeah dweb always feels more like the bitcoin Freeze Peach side of things rather than a legitimate attempt to give people control over their online lives

commonplace book << http://gordonbrander.com/pattern/ appears to be an interesting example of a personal wiki with articles which backlink to each other with a rather elegant UI at the bottom of the page.

Re "business model" thing
#
Saphire
As far as I'm aware, indieweb is basically centered around idea that you have your domain, and a way to put content on it (primarily over http+html, but I suppose stuff like gopher and gemini too?), And a set of communication standards of how those isolated sites can interact with one another?
#
Saphire
As in, there's no The Service that is one specific thing, and while everyone could use same auth server, same webmention thing, etc; they also can have it as completely own solution, separate from thing that could be centralising it all, and still have everything work

So.. there's no business model because there's no business - it is a network, community, idea, and set of standards to follow, and expand on collectively?
#
sknebel
pretty much, yeah. doesn't mean that there aren't/can't be businesses involved (hosting, glue services, ...), but there isn't the indieweb product you can try find a business model for
