Yes aaronpk 😂
#
[tantek]
[kimberlyhirsh] & aaronpk, i agree that the current terms were chosen to recognize “work to do”, and in general I think it’s important for a community to choose terms that accurately reflect where a community is, and speaks to the current community with the needs for change
#
[tantek]
IMO, methodologically there’s no one right “this term is in general preferred to this other term” for all communities when it’s literally about the challenges a specific community is facing
#
[tantek]
For the specific example, (“non-white” or “BIPOC”), it’s potentially problematic for a predominantly white community to attempt to use an umbrella term like BIPOC for inclusion, because it is a form of “lumping”, and erasure of differences & challenges.
#
[tantek]
This video has some good criticisms of “generic” use of BIPOC, and the comments are quite revealing too: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CNHIwUCDLR9/

multi-site indieweb << Sara Soueidan outlines a great (and very IndieWeb-by) reason to have a secondary website---to re-build and redesign it in the open: https://www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/redesign/
#
Loqi
ok, I added "Sara Soueidan outlines a great (and very IndieWeb-by) reason to have a secondary website---to re-build and redesign it in the open: https://www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/redesign/" to the "See Also" section of /multi-site_indieweb https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=75160&oldid=71911
#
[tantek]
not sure if that's really multisite or actually migration
#
[chrisaldrich]
She states that her intention is eventually migration, though there's no reason not to keep it around for the next round. Highlighting the maintenance of a public development server is some of the point. Several of us do it, but it's poorly documented.

#
[tantek]
right, it's that intention that I think distinguishes it
#
[tantek]
or where it "better" fits
#
[chrisaldrich]
I'll move it to a brainstorming section when I circle back around to it...
#
[tantek]
what is multisite
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "multisite" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "multisite is ____", a sentence describing the term)

what is migration
#
Loqi
migration in the context of the indieweb refers to the process of moving your indieweb site from any one or more of one CMS / web host / DNS provider / URL design / domain name to another https://indieweb.org/migration

[tantek]

Okay, site is.... Sort of up! It's jekyll. Not really many bells and whistles. And I need to figure out how to import my old site that I saved. But, back to the IndieWeb.
