@kevinmarks ↩️ The earlier model was ping servers, which would send a url for each new post as it was published for crawlers and feed readers to fetch and update. Firehose was less TCP overhead (more like a SQL update stream).
The standard way to do this now is WebSub https://indieweb.org/WebSub (twitter.com/_/status/1451486889387646976)
