#[tantek]and those pages look more like an official IWC "event" than the "here is an event post at indieweb.org" which could be anything of any level of "formality"
#[tantek](which are great for 90% of the use-cases to be clear)
#[tantek]just think IWCs are worth elevating a step up like that
#[manton]No Austin IWC, at least not the first half of 2022. There seemed like too much uncertainty and it was hard to tell this early if enough people will be interested. Micro.blog is going to try to do a virtual Micro Camp with a small in-person component… If it goes well I'll definitely feel more confident about doing an IWC later.
#gRegorI'm hoping for IWS next summer, that would probably be my next in-person
#@kevinmarks↩️ They worked and still do; they showed user value for bloggers when we indexed them at Technorati, they show user value for indieweb people now. The name got attached to a lot of more theoretical things too, and get tangled in SEO nonsense, but the model works. (twitter.com/_/status/1454119085789306891)
#[chrisaldrich]https://imgflip.com/i/5sb4t7 (alt text: Meme image of the World's Most Interesting Man saying "I don't always make plans for 4 AM weeks in advance, but when I do.... It's for IWC DUS")
#[tantek]sknebel, we're adding a no-host morning cafe hour from 9-10am, and a aftercamp snack time from 15:15-17:00, both in a nearby (adjacent) cafe that we've confirmed is open and has small tables with chairs around them if people want to keep informally hanging out / hacking
#LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "indieweb talks" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "indieweb talks is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#[chrisaldrich]Anyone want to add some IndieWeb relevance to that ^^ page that got added (accidentally by Loqi to to natural language parsing) this week?
#[tantek]yeah, unless someone is actually using or playing with it for their own site or something, should probably delete it
#LoqiThe metaverse is a concept of a virtual 3D world introduced in Neal Stephenson’s “Snow Crash” book, later adopted by the Second Life startup/service, and recently an area of interest on the web, and a topic of discussion at the 2021-10-09 IndieWeb Create Day https://indieweb.org/metaverse
#[tantek]or move it to a subsection there ^ and redirect
#LoqiJust generated this week's newsletter! You still have a few minutes to make changes, and I'll re-generate it 10 minutes before it gets sent out at 3pm Pacific time. https://indieweb.org/this-week/2021-10-29.html
#[tantek]oh huh no other new pages, that's unfortunate
