Recently built a tool that enables organizations + communities to sync their public calendars, so people on the ground can get a view of all of the organizing activities happening near them (right now mainly for community and climate action) and where to plug-in:
#
[Sam_Butler]
And if you have any questions, ideas, comments, feedback — let me know!
#
[Sam_Butler]
If this sounds useful, feel free to try it out and share! Anybody can post events and calendars directly from the main page, no login or account required. (Most of the calendars/data are US-based right now, so if you're somewhere else, just try searching a large US city.)
#
[Sam_Butler]
It's also open source — collaboration from all backgrounds invited! There are some big questions to come around permissions, data rights and sovereignty, respectful ways to work with calendar data, and general features/capabilities/vision, and it would be great to have perspective from a number of communities/fields on that.

so do we have to change the name of this channel (at least in Slack 😛 )
#
capjamesg[d]
But I agree…
#
capjamesg[d]
“the future of the web that we should want, and should work and fight for, is decentralized, yes, and open”
#
capjamesg[d]
I know that wasn’t your point though haha.
#
[tantek]
Perhaps we should rename IndieWeb to "main"

ok, I added "Used in Obama presidential campaign financing efforts: https://notes.autiomaa.org/blog/2020-07-17-static-sites/" to a brand new "See Also" section of /2014/static-sites https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=77622&oldid=10981

Will there be remote participation?
#
aaronpk
I think I can make that happen
#
GWG
Darn, I think that might be an in-office day for me now.
#
GWG
But the bulk of it should be before work, if I can get up early.
#
GWG
I really wanted to be there for the first IWC in a long while
#
[tantek]
It was really hard to find a venue, lots of dead ends 😕
#
GWG
[tantek]: I know
#
GWG
I'll start hoping for the next one
#
GWG
After this, what is the next most likely?
#
[tantek]
I think you'll have to ask [manton] about Austin
#
GWG
I thought he was still unsure, last I heard
#
[tantek]
that's likely still the status

gotta run for now, but next steps include creating an events.indieweb.org event for IWC DUS with that tito link, maybe also a 2021.indieweb.org static page too with the embed of that tito? I can do the former later tonight, aaronpk, will take your advice on the latter.
