@ReimonChow
↩️ Ya ha habido otros proyectos de decentralización (por ejemplo indieweb). Web3 es el enésimo intento de solucionar algo con una tecnología que aunque siempre parece prometedora, no se hace imprescindible en ningún caso de uso.

#
[chrisbergr]
I only have the slack wordpress confirmation mail. My email there: chrisbergr@chat.wordpress.org
#

Don't know if that will help
#

pfefferle, did you see that the dates for Beyond Tellerand 2022 have been announced? Düsseldorf in May, Berlin in September, and Munich in November! Hopefully we can do IndieWebCamps before each one
#
[tantek]1
are any of those close to you?
#
pfefferle
sure! düsseldorf and munich are not that far away!
#
pfefferle
would love to see you folks in person :)

↩️ Hey Gilly, Hast du schonmal vom "Indieweb" gehört?

↩️ Right, but Web 2.0 (although the term was a bit of a joke to developers) was describing technologies solving actual problems. Web3 is vague hype. Folks like https://indieweb.org/ share some of the web3 goals, but without the speculative crypto bro stuff.

I don’t see why open protocols is an argument that only applies to blockchain and not the web 😂
#
@dougwlance
@jaffathecake The future of the web should be built on open protocols that allow users to own their data. That's what web3 is about.

capjamesg[d] indeed. It reminds me of the early/mid-2000s when the SemWeb crowd, similar to today's crypto crowd, would claim the only way to express semantics on the web was RDF

oof i think that was the first time i noticed someone pushing web3 with the "own your data" phrasing and i felt, mentally, how they were twisting the word "own" and now i feel gross.

[tantek] re "Hopefully we can do IndieWebCamps before each one" - do IWC's typically always take place on weekdays instead of weekends?

So do we just pretend like the #indieweb /#openweb movement never existed? Or is that a buzzkill?

↩️ I agree that it's a scale thing. We turned it off for http://indieweb.org for example, as we have http://chat.indieweb.org for discussion (we also have ways to do simple edits from the chat)
