yay! thanks capjamesg[d]. I see you copied the format of the tweets that were quoted too. I wonder if we should encourage Loqi to use <blockquote> for the tweet content in its < < function instead of a ** nested list item.
#
Loqi
😄
#
[tantek]
aaronpk, WDYT about using <blockquote> when Loqi extracts content from a URL that it's adding from the < < command?
#
aaronpk
sure, will it help?
#
[tantek]
purely from a semantic / aesthetic point of view, a blockquote is more 'correct' for that than a nested list item
#
[tantek]
I think it looks mildly cleaner without the extra * bullet
#
[tantek]
whether it helps anything else? who knows. IDK if any search engines for example do anything special with <blockquote> though they could! Especially with blockquote tags that used the cite= attribute to link to the source of the blockquote!
#
[tantek]
here I'll mark those up manually to demonstrate
#
[tantek]
(since I was the one what asked 😂 )
#
aaronpk
can I put a blockquote inside a list item?

[tantek]
take a look aaronpk, I think this looks better: https://indieweb.org/Web_3.0#Comparison_to_IndieWeb
#
aaronpk
what's the difference?
#
[tantek]
always good to test with actual content to see
#
[tantek]
compare to prev revision
#
[tantek]
note how much it makes a difference when there's a bunch of them in a row
#
[tantek]
those extra * bullets really add noise
#
[tantek]
of course I also did the extra work of putting the source in <cite> markup on its own line for better clarity / separation as well
#
[tantek]
now another experiment would be to see how well that "natural" markup of the existing content works with h-cite, which would also make sense
#
capjamesg[d]
Looks good [tantek] 🙌
#
[tantek]
adding h-cite won't make any visual difference, and I wanted to do it in two different edits to demonstrate the thinking process of "properly" marking something up with semantic HTML, and then later adding microformats
#
aaronpk
ugh i need to also handle all the cases of when there isn't an author and isn't a date
#
aaronpk
can't only code for the happy path
#
[tantek]
oh? I thought you only expanded from tweets
#
[tantek]
I can write up the markup for those if you can find me examples of content without the date and/or without the the author
#
aaronpk
It works for anything that XRay can parse, so lots of stuff

if there's a blog post with a title that also has different presentation, it only includes the title not the contents

GWG-
Anyone coming to HWC tonight?
#
[tantek]
GWG, hoping to
#
GWG-
[tantek]: Didn't see your RSVP
#
[tantek]
I have a hard time posting maybe RSVPs to an event that I will likely go to, especially since I don't have a way (yet) of not-POSSEing my RSVPs. My RSVPs currently serve a secondary role of helping to promote a specific event, which I'd rather promote with saying I'm going than I might go.
#
[tantek]
maybe I should file an issue for an "interested" button on Meetable events
#
GWG-
[tantek]: I worry when I'm the only one I know is coming.
