@TheOwenYoung
Finally, having added Webmention, Webring, and IndieAuth support to my blog, I think I'm now part of IndieWeb! https://www.owenyoung.com/en/blog/indieweb/

Chatting about chat for a moment, how do I tell who I can @ mention on Slack? Everyone who doesn’t have the `APP` token? Is this documented somewhere?
#
aaronpk
not sure what your goal is with "mentioning" them. you can mention anyone of course
#
aaronpk
if you want someone to get a notification, well, that depends on a bunch of things, including whether they want to get notifications
#
[prtksxna]
aaronpk : For eg you have the `APP` token. Does that mean you’re using a bridge and won’t get a notification if you [aaronpk] (based on your settings of course)
#
aaronpk
if you mention someone who has a slack username (you'll see them in the autocomplete in slack) then they might get a notification if they have allowed notifications in slack
#
aaronpk
i'm chatting in IRC and i have notifications set up to alert me if someone mentions the text "aaronpk" regardless of where it comes from
#
[prtksxna]
My goal is to be able to reply to people’s old messages. Time zone differences mean that I probably reply late and would like to have some way to let people know (if they want to, of course) that they were replied to.
#
[prtksxna]
↩️ That makes sense.
#
[prtksxna]
↩️ And what happens to threads when you’re on IRC?
#
aaronpk
threads appear in the main chat stream on all other platforms than slack
#
aaronpk
so generally we try to avoid using threads in slack because they don't translate well
#
[prtksxna]
Makes sense, reactions too, I suppose.
#
aaronpk
sadly yes
#
[prtksxna]
Thanks for explaining [aaronpk] 🙏

用Zola给我的静态博客 https://www.owenyoung.com/activity/ 实现了一个动态页面,利用 https://webmention.io/ 收集网络的回应,然后用Denoflow把回应保存成json文件,最后用Zola的模版渲染出来。 https://www.owenyoung.com/en/blog/indieweb/

this post by robin sloan is living rent free in my head; I think the indieweb protocols address the situation …but we def need more implementations that aren't low level (via @phae) https://www.robinsloan.com/lab/specifying-spring-83/

↩️ Yeah idk, the thing I like most about indieweb is that there are zero exotic materials involved. DNS, HTTP, and some markup are all that's required. Local/offline feels important too but invites all kinds of issues.
