aaronpk, it wasn't sarcasm, it was a rhetorical question

@meddlin_dev
@EposVox How do we continue to push online services, subscription models, and near constant online connections to normal users without showing them they can trust anything to last 10 years?

aaronpk
I re-read that and now I see sarcasm
#
@meddlin_dev
@aaronpk @EposVox With that link, I’m assuming you mean “don’t trust them”—which is my point. Yet their business model(s) claim we can, and worse…should. This gets nastier when you introduce IoT and right-to-repair to the conversation.

@EposVox
@meddlin_dev @aaronpk The mindset of using modern technology is only trusting it here and now but always having backups and alternatives

aaronpk, yes maybe both! a sarcastic rhetorical question!
#
[tantek]
ugh yeah so much more "modern" technology is more fragile than what came before 😞

↩️ Sounds good - have you talked to @mbostock about @observablehq - sets definitely in this category, and indieweb has a lot of Commonplace book and Zettelkasten experimentation going on https://indieweb.org/commonplace_book

[campegg] nice to have another NYC IndieWebber! GWG and myself (and a few folks who haven't been as active recently) are here as well!
#

someday i'd love a return of HWC NYC. could do a nice outside sit sometime. hard to do a real laptops-and-wifi meetup outdoors though.

[schmarty] @GWG I'd be keen for a local HWC for sure… but yeah, trekking out to Queens is a bit of a mission 😉

Same as me trekking to Manhattan

[campegg]
Yeah, that's a fair call 🙂
