[tantek]4 short answer: Twitter "blew up" (gained massive adoption) in those communities in particular in 2007. so I can't help but wonder, did the collective adoption of Twitter actually slow us all down with a combination of distraction & reduced attention spans? (harder to actually focus long enough to create those big innovations and leaps forward)
