Re: Vector (wiki theme), it looks like we might have `$wgVectorDefaultSkinVersion = '1';` set in LocalSettings. I see that value in some JSON when I view source. However I don't think we can just flip the switch on vector-2022 due to the homepage.
#
gRegor
For MW 1.36 and 1.37 that was supposed to be set to 2. As of 1.38, which we're on now, it's just `$wgDefaultSkin = 'vector-2022';` https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Skin:Vector/2022#Making_Vector_2022_the_default_skin

On https://indieweb.org/Special:Preferences > Appearance you can also switch to Vector 2022 for yourself. It's *better* on mobile, but the sidebar .mw-navigation element still appears at the top. I'm not sure why... weirdly haven't found anything searching for help
#
gRegor
https://indieweb.org/Special:Version shows Vector 1.0.0 but the sidebar doesn't collapse like Wikipedia does. Hm.
#

^ at some point? You don’t need a web dev background to use micro.blog
#
[jacky]
but you do have to pay
#
[jacky]
not to say that's a problem but that's a blocker in a world where that's less of a requirement to use services
#
[Murray]
Max does explicitly mention micro.blog as well, but says (to paraphrase) that it has struggled to gain traction:
#
[Murray]
> Mastodon, Ghost, Tumblr, micro.blog and others are working hard on that frontier; yet I feel they are still not widely used by the average person looking to share their mind.
#
[jacky]
We're also fighting against general consumer computing - a place where things just "click" and "work" and people are already there; that's not as easy to do in a more distributed fashion like we have here _without_ a bit of work
#
[Murray]
what is meetup
#
Loqi
Meetup.com is an event silo for creating and/or finding small gatherings in your local community who share your interests, sometimes used by some Homebrew Website Club cities to organize local HWC meetups, acquired in 2017 by WeWork https://indieweb.org/Meetup
#

#
Loqi
Accessibility is the practice of designing so that people with disabilities can have equal access to information and functionality, applicable to both websites as well as physical environments https://indieweb.org/accessibility
