At what point should the “stub” disclaimer be removed from wiki articles? For example, I was about to link to /plurality and while it’s not a long article, it’s been tweaked for years and doesn’t read like a stub to me.
#
aaronpk
I don't know if we have any official criteria
#
[manton]
Okay. I guess if an article doesn’t seem like a stub, someone (me in this case!) can just remove that and other folks can object if needed. 🙂
#
[aciccarello]
[manton] I've wondered the same before
#
[manton]
I don’t think we need strict criteria, but my 2 cents is any article that is multiple paragraphs with links, etc. is not a stub anymore.
#
[aciccarello]
Looks like there are a couple discussions linked from https://indieweb.org/stub

Length of article is one criteria (critical mass), but a “stub” often also means the article doesn’t actually adequately cover the subject (also a judgment call) so it’s not length / number of editors by itself.
#
[tantek]
If an article provides only a narrow perspective or is missing a lot of common sections (see /wikify for a list) then it really should remain a stub
#
[tantek]
Haven’t looked at /plurality in particular
#
[tantek]
Agreed that we don’t need strict criteria, however, an edit removing “stub” should state the reasoning for doing so
#
gRegor
Agreed with that description. Initially I saw it as an invitation to encourage edits, but after being around a while, kind of realized that's the entire wiki really.
#
gRegor
vs with something the size of Wikipedia, those type of snippets will categorize the pages so it's easier for editors to work through
#
gRegor
Put another way: on the indieweb wiki I pretty much ignore the stub text. It's not more or less likely to make me edit a page :)
