sknebel++ good find. and yikes! looks like we have until july 30th to set up "plumbed" channels if we want to keep bridging IRC to Matrix.
#
Loqi
sknebel has 6 karma in this channel over the last year (48 in all channels)
#
[schmarty]
the libera-chat posts don't seem to include any details on how exactly to set up a plumbed channel. this looks like a start? https://matrix-org.github.io/matrix-appservice-irc/latest/irc_operators.html#portals-and-plumbed
#
[schmarty]
the old docs suggest that moving from portal to plumbed is "a bit of a mess": https://matrix.org/docs/legacy/types-of-bridging/
#
[schmarty]
i also wonder if it means we'll need our own matrix server running to administer the bridge 😐
#
sknebel
fairly sure "no" to the latter, until EMS decides they dont want to bother anymore
#
[schmarty]
i wasn't able to figure out from those docs whether someone from our community can set up the plumbed rooms on EMS's IRC bridge. if we can: hooray, we can use their bridge.

I assume people with more clue will write this down in the next few days and we can copy from them :)

What is send a friend a webmention day?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "send a friend a webmention day" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "send a friend a webmention day is ____", a sentence describing the term)

send a friend a webmention day is a day on which we encourage people to send a [[Webmention]] to a friend, co-inciding with International Friendship Day. The first send a friend a Webmention day is July 31st, 2023.
