we are not (nor other website maintainers or event organizers) primarily disability justice advocates nor lawyers or judges. this is not philosophy but rather recognizing our goals & roles, and not confusing that with what others who have different goals do & say. this is why I keep citing examples of folks like us maintaining websites and organizing similar events.
#
[tantek]
I don't think it's fair to characterize any of the examples I gave of other experts (W3C) or good faith organizers (btconf, OSBridge) as using "weaker language".
#
[tantek]
nor would I say that any of those orgs are shrugging their shoulders.

Another big IndieWeb-specific distinction is the availability of labor itself for small sites and frankly all-volunteer events to commit to or promise anything at all. Best effort for one person with a personal site is very different than best effort for a small company with a website is different from a large corporation with a website.
#
[tantek]
to that extent, there's a strong benefit to making our own accessibility statement docs more approachable (and frankly, accessible themselves) to more people, instead of scaring people with high expectations which are more likely to result in inaction (or people not bothering to organize or volunteer for events)
#
[tantek]
I also prefer to model the behavior of people who have actually done the work and produced both personal sites and events with accessibility considerations, and improvements over time, rather than aspirations
#
[tantek]
done / are doing the work. There are probably also lessons to be learned by folks that did some work then burnt out, to help set upper bounds on what's sustainably possible with individual / volunteer labor

What is rel-me?
#
Loqi
Using rel=me on a hyperlink indicates that its destination represents the same person or entity as the current page, which is a key building-block of web-sign-in and IndieAuth https://indieweb.org/rel%3D%22me%22

ok, I added "https://social.coop/@eloquence/111135380251540525" to the "See Also" section of /rel-me https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=89408&oldid=89390

#
sknebel
true, you can do it as a daytrip probably
#
[Jo]
I can! And with the 49€ ticket too. Just takes longer.
#
GWG
I'm more excited about a IWC for the first time in years for me over another event

#
[tantek]

#
aaronpk
linode did a live migration a little bit ago i wonder if that's related
#
aaronpk
no i suspect this is related to my recent changes actually
#
aaronpk
