#hereboxAre there known best practices for effective link previews on indieweb chat? Initially posted from discord if relevant. Discord supports using < > brackets to avoid discord-native link previews.
#gRegorimmibis, We've documented the reasoning behind each of the channels pretty well, e.g. https://indieweb.org/discuss#indieweb Main channel is specifically meant to stay user-centric and be as welcoming as possible, including people who have never built a website before. We know from experience that seeing a lot of jargon or dev talk in there can lead people to think indieweb isn't for them, or "it's just developers," etc.
#aaronpk@herebox the "spam" is because you edited the message in discord, which causes the new content to be sent again to IRC and Slack. avoiding editing messages in discord will help this
#aaronpkso, edit -> new message in IRC -> Loqi fetches link preview again. so each edit results in another link preview from Loqi
#hereboxhmm, looks like #indieweb-random might not be bridged to irc to allow testing the auto-edit? I'm wondering if the discord-native link preview is triggering an "edit" on irc, might be avoided by using <> brackets, as follows <https://indieweb.org/link-preview>
#hereboxPrevious post looks good on discord, but breaks the link on irc web bridge with trailing > . I'll watch link+edit behavior and see what works best, thanks for the feedback.
#gRegorI don't see any trailing ">" on those links in IRC

#gRegorThe link in that message does work in my IRC (Hexchat). I think the web chat archive auto-linker might need some debugging to get that to work
