-> from #indieweb-dev RE: comments about highlighting actual sites on the Wiki/homepage
#
[Murray]
this is something I yo-yo on appropriate or not, but I do think it would be cool to have some kind of "site of the day(/week/month)" on the homepage. A kind of "show your work"/"proof of concept" and a small bit of discovery wrapped up in one
#
[Murray]
we do seem to regularly get people pop by here and ask how they can find other people in the community, and this would be a quick way to do so
#
[Murray]
bonus if that section linked to a Wiki page with more avenues for discovery, such as the chat names list, the web ring, any indie search engines or link lists that are active
#
[Murray]
the obvious negative here is curation; it adds a burden on the community to vet/approve/suggest/etc. sites that would fit the criteria. And it would need to be pretty open for submissions
#
[Murray]
hence back and forth 😄 still, figured worth mentioning

I think it depends if they're looking for indieweb.org community member sites or more broadly, any type of personal website from various communities (or no specific community)
#
gRegor
The former is basically /chat-names, the latter could be one of the various directories
#
gRegor
what is stream.indieweb.org
#
Loqi
stream.indieweb.org is a web view of a stream of public posts with relevant hashtags across various services, that are also shown in the #stream chat channel https://indieweb.org/stream.indieweb.org
#
gRegor
We do have that lesser known stream ^, geared more towards reading indieweb posts of course.

The indieseek link that's being discussed in #indieweb-dev is on the indieweb_directory but not directory
#
gRegor
Yeah, noticed those separate pages too. Not sure we need separate pages like that
#
gRegor
Unless we ever do an "official" indieweb directory
#
gRegor
hehe, from https://indieseek.xyz/about/ "Our blog here at Indieseek, is equipped with Indieweb plugins, webmentions and Indieweb “elven magic”..."
#
gRegor
Not to be confused with eleventy magic
#
gRegor
Wonder if there's anything we can add on https://indieweb.org/Getting_Started
#
gRegor
We have "Want to chat with people on the indieweb before jumping in?
#
gRegor
" so maybe a similar "Want to browse some indieweb sites and get inspired?" with links to the different /directory options
#
[aciccarello]
I must be getting old. The font on that site is hard for me to read...
#
gRegor
indieseek?
#
[aciccarello]
It also seems discovery related
#
[aciccarello]
Another example of the IndieWeb being seen as too programming focused...
#
[aciccarello]
> Also, there seems to be a “code your own” script bias, whereas we like off the shelf because we don’t code and also, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
