what is Hover
#
Loqi
Hover is a domain registrar with good ux and customer service https://indieweb.org/Hover
#
[tantek]
gRegor I think Gandi is in a subsection of maybe DNS provider?

A personal domain is a domain name that you personally own, control, and use to represent yourself on the internet https://indieweb.org/Gandi
#

thoughts on redirecting those to that opinions/recommendation section?
#
[tantek]
aaronpk, I believe I had linked the Sidebar directly to the Dev chat UI due to feedback from capjamesg[d] of reducing the number of clicks to go from the sidebar to chatting
#
gRegor
Or should we create a subheading for each one and link to that?
#
gRegor
s/link/redirect/
#
[tantek]
I thought we had subheads somewhere of each one with IndieWeb folks who were using each listed in each
#
[tantek]
that way you could ask someone about their experience with it
#
gRegor
It's a bulleted list, not subheading
#
[tantek]
especially if they had previously used it and moved on for some reason
#
[tantek]
huh, I'm probably confusing it with something else
#
[tantek]
also a "/" in a fragment is confusing lol
#
[tantek]
gRegor, feel free to restructure/rename that section as you see fit
#
[tantek]
I believe it grew semi-organically and could use some thoughtful rewriting in a way that is more readable/accessible/discoverable to new folks
#
gRegor
I'll start with subheadings

GWG and I are observing that one of the things we try to avoid in this community is any sort of "purity" approach, e.g. asking folks to immediately abandon all silos.
#
[tantek]
We have certainly seen people evoke (invoke?) such a philosophy (purity) by their complaints about using Slack, or Discord, or POSSEing to places like Twitter
#
[tantek]
Makes me think it might be worth documenting "purity culture" as an actual explicit anti-pattern
#
[tantek]
Perhaps we could even rephrase (reframe?) what we encourage instead: pragmatism over purity
#
GWG
Thinking about the idea of adding a sentence on the mainpage of the wiki after, "We are a community of independent and personal websites based on the principles of: owning your domain and using it as your primary online identity, publishing on your own site first (optionally elsewhere), and owning your content." that reads simply, "There is no 'right' way to be part of the IndieWeb. or
#

something to that effect. Wondering what people think.

ok, I added "related blog post: 2019-03-01 {{gwg}}: [https://david.shanske.com/2019/03/01/thinking-about-bridging/ Thinking about Bridging]" to the "See Also" section of /pluralism https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=99324&oldid=98829
#
gRegor
Like the general direction. Would probably prefer a positive framing emphasizing /plurality rather than "no right way"
#
gRegor
Further down the homepage has "Principles over project-centrism. Others assume a monoculture of one project for all. We are developing a plurality of projects."

alright, GWG says the section on /welcoming for dealing with technical rants is sufficiently useful to the community to be considered a gift for the 26th (unless someone has other gifts they know of that were published / created on the 26th)

(e.g. are you looking for a venue or other factors to resolve?) and also can you add your name and other co-organizers as points of contact for interest? Similar to the tentative IWC DUS 2025 event:
