It would be nice to have a link to a list of active carnivals in the sidebar:
#
[artlung]
There's also a spot on the home page "Blog with Us Monthly" which could include it.
#
[artlung]
Totally open to making this optimized. I also think a bot reminding the community "hey, update {{Template:carnivals}} on the 1st! would be good.
#
[artlung]
Or... wherever it will live. 😄
#
[tantek]
capjamesg, what would you remove? or how big do you think it's ok to grow the sidebar before fewer people find fewer things?
#
capjamesg
I think the "📝 Blog With Us Monthly" section that's already on the homepage may be sufficient.
#
capjamesg
I didn't realise that was there!
#
[tantek]
to be clear, I'm totally open to people saying things like "this link seems useless" or "this link got me engaged in the community"

^ good example, thanks [jeremycherfas]. one revision, ~9yo, no link to the actual thing, no indieweb-specific relevance (e.g. someone using it on their site), and likely accidentally created by someone "simply" answering a question in chat without intending to create a page (which is ok sometimes, if there's further iteration, which there was none)

In slight contrast, /Mapzen as a site-death feels worth connecting up, in that the more site-deaths we document, the more data/evidence we provide for why owning your own "stuff" is worth doing

^ [jeremycherfas] my attempt at "repairing" that single-revision page to make it at least minimally indieweb relevant (documenting site deaths)
#
[tantek]
what is Mapzen
#
Loqi
Mapzen was a mapping platform using open-source map technologies, shut down on 2018-01-31, supposedly migrated to the Linux Foundation but the page there is 404 https://indieweb.org/Mapzen
