[tantek]3 [artlung] appreciate making it work with lists too! I definitely wrestled a bit over whether table markup was semantically appropriate. At the time it felt like the data was sufficiently "tabular" with the rows and columns having such meanings that that's why i chose to use a <table>. plus I admit colspan was both helpful for reducing empty table cells and yet as I think your markup shows, it's possible to avoid such empty elements
