[Al_Abut]And I still can’t believe that [dshanske] is hiding code words in the license plate of my new car, that’s some magical hacking skills right there.
[tantek][Al_Abut] you are my canary, if there are others here in chat with aliases that you find confusing or disassociated from their names, please LMK!

[tantek]once clue is if someone hasn't added themselves to /chat-names or defined a chatname Template: for themselves then I figured they didn't want to be listed
[artlung]Well, in my case "artlung" was the handle I chose as username when I had the capability to choose a moniker on whatever system I was on. It was also the root name of the first domain name I "bought" to use. I think of it as "username" and not "alias" or "nickname" or "nick" but different people might use them as synonyms. And because they use them as synonyms, they are, despite the nuances.
[artlung]The human idea of _name_ is incredibly rich across human cultures. People change them when they marry, they add new names as part of religious and cultural ritual, they decline to share some "true names" with some forms of stranger. Names are huge.
LoqiPseudonymity is the concept of having an anonymous identity that is the same across multiple sessions or websites https://indieweb.org/pseudonymous
Loqinymwars is the name for the assumption, made by Facebook and Google+ that enforcing "real names" improves a social website; this was opposed by many people who have very good reasons for pseudonymity or anonymity https://indieweb.org/nymwars
[tantek][artlung] if I made a mistake by adding you to the /alias examples, happy to remove (or feel free to). I was going by remembering you saying in several Zooms (HWC or other?) that you will respond to / don't mind being called by that alternative name, which seemed to fit the meaning of an "alias" in addition to username / domain
[Al_Abut][tantek] good for you! You're making me reflect a bit on my own personal triggers for reactivity and whether I can sublimate those instincts elsewhere in 2026.
[artlung][aciccarello] there's a "Schedule a Zoom Meeting" button on every event under http://events.indieweb.org you can select. and then, to start it, a person with access to the indieweb zoom via 1Password can start it. Or you can request access as a user of the group 1Password from aaronpk.
LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "open access" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "open access is ____", a sentence describing the term)

gRegor^ The old add-on links which don't work currently are still in the HTML comments near the top of https://indieweb.org/Omnibear in case they come back
gRegorWas hoping to help spread out the work some :) I can come back to it. It's probably better to prioritize getting more recent camps from Zoom -> archive.org
