[tantek]per the discussion in #indieweb-random, should we consider putting in something about not supporting "free speech absolutism" or "free speech baiting" or some other variant in our Code of Conduct, and cite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance accordingly? cc gRegor [capjamesg].
[tantek]I think our Code of Conduct already *mostly* makes it clear some forms of "speech" are not acceptable in our community, so I don't view this as a substantial change, but it may help make it extra clear to folks who may misinterpret (or misframe!) the community or general indieweb concept
[tantek]Here is a specific example of someone who is advocating closer to a free speech absolutism position, and either deliberately or mistakenly misinterpreting the person they are arguing against: https://thecozy.cat/blog/re-the-web-revival-space-as-a-refuge-for-harmful-ideas-part-ii/ (I have seen enough such posts claiming "hypocrisy" against those advocating for not tolerating the intolerant that in general I view this sort of post as bad
LoqiIndieWeb community guidelines are advice, tips, and a loose collection of emergent norms in the IndieWeb community beyond the code-of-conduct — new community members should read through these to get a better sense of how to participate harmoniously in shared IndieWeb spaces such as the chat channels and virtual Zooms (HWC, Pop-ups, FrESH, and any others shared in chat) https://indieweb.org/community_guidelines
[tantek]we could also start with documenting there ^, however this feels strongly aligned enough with our code of conduct that it seemed reasonable to advocate to include something there

[morgan]Just wanted to put my 2c in to say thanks for all the moderation that happens, keeping the fabric of communities alive and healthy takes some challenging decisions
Loqi🌈 IndieWeb code of conduct tl;dr:
Be respectful of other people, respectfully ask people to stop if you are bothered, and if you can't resolve an issue, contact staff. If you are being a problem, it will be apparent and you'll be asked to leave https://indieweb.org/coc
